The 500K Butterfly Habitat in Bay Ridge Native Plant Garden – CB 10 Meeting

In 2019, newspapers reported that Councilman Justin Brannan had participatory budgeting and gave $500,000 for a butterfly garden/habitat. (See here)
Then we never heard anyone speak about the butterfly habitat again.
The above photo is the only one that mentions the butterfly .
The only other place it is mentioned is on the Councilman’s site. (See here)

For 500K, you would think there would be a lot of happy butterflies….right?
There are more butterflies in my backyard than there are at Shore Road Park.
I looked at the weedy areas near the highway, but there were no butterflies there this Summer either.
At the Community Board 10 Meeting this week, The Narrows Botanical Garden spoke about a native plant garden (wasn’t that supposed to be what the butterfly garden was?)

What happened to the butterfly habitat and where did the half million dollars go?
