You Didn’t Miss Anything at Justin Brannan and Senator Gounardes’ Property Tax Meeting for Bay Ridge/Dyker Heights on 1/29

Update: Brannan announced this was his and Gounardes meeting. Yet neither stayed for more than five minutes at the meeting.
Today, Justin Brannan and Senator Andrew Gounardes had a property tax meeting at 2:00 pm. I didn’t attend it, but my husband did.
Gounardes introduced the Department of Finance representatives and left the meeting within the first three minutes.
Andrew told the group he was meeting with middle school. Poor management on Gounardes’ part. I have seen Andrew do this several time during community meetings. But this was his meeting, so he should have been present for it.
At the start of the meeting, the Department of Finance representative tried to speak to Justin Brannan, but Brannan didn’t respond.
A few minutes later, Brannan interrupted the guy to make a speech about Covid stopping the property tax adjustment from happening. It shouldn’t have as the people who work in the Department of Finance offices were still working. They weren’t delivering food for those impacted by COVID. Brannan logged off soon after his spiel.
The Department of Finance staff wanted to showed the NYC website.

My husband felt this type of meeting would be appropriate for someone who just learned to use the Internet and was learning how to navigate. The meeting wasn’t to help home owners because home owners know about these exemptions already.
The Department of Finance speaker clicked a page and read off of the Department of Finance website:

Here’s how you can ask a question on the site:

When my husband asked two questions, the Department of Fiance Staffers didn’t respond to the questions. They told my husband to go to the online meeting in February.
When Lee asked who he could speak to in the Dept of Finance, the three representatives won’t give him a name. When you work with other city offices, they easily provide that information.
Being that this was Brannan and Gounardes meeting, Justin and Andrew should have been present to provide that information or should have instructed staffers to assist residents. No one assisted my husband.
Gounardes’ staffer was logged in, but had her video turned off. She did not did not say anything throughout the virtual meeting. When she saw my husband wasn’t receiving help, why didn’t she off to send the information?
As far as my husband could tell there was only three Department of Finance representatives, Gounardes’ staffer and him at the online meeting.
No one else asked any questions.
We believe this meeting was set up so a flyer could be made and it could look like Brannan and Gounardes were doing something because people are getting their property tax bills soon!
