Was An Organization Told Not to Accept Food Boxes by a Politician in Brooklyn?

Strange series of Tweets. (See here)

Brooklyn Immigrant Community Support has partnered with organizations in Brooklyn to give out boxes of food in Brooklyn.

Yet, it appears that organizations are being told that they can’t partner with them or they will lose funding.

The head of Brooklyn Immigrant Community has tweeted to the media for help as politics seems to be playing a role here.

This weekend, the Brooklyn Immigrant Coalition partnered with The Bath Beach Bensonhurst GravesendAlliance to give out food boxes. Today they are running a COVID testing in Coney Island.

.

The Bath Beach Bensonhurst Gravesend Alliance is run by Republican, Ray Denaro and Democrat, Steve Patzer.

Ray Denaro shared these photos showing the long line.

The Bath Beach Bensonhurst Gravesend Alliance has been around since 2019 and they have held a lot of events to help their community. (Charity events – not galas). They have partnered with other leaders to run events, but I haven’t seen Treyger partner with them!

On November 24th, they have a turkey dinner giveaway for people who need a turkey. (see here)

The pandemic has really hurt many immigrants and stopped people from being able to work. Families still need food!

Mark Treyger has not responded to the tweets. The Councilman is term-limited so I am not sure why he would care who is partnering with that group, as long as people are getting help.

Hugs,
marlene
