Amazon is Setting Up in Red Hook
Amazon is setting up a warehouse on Richards Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
Thor Equities owned the property where the warehouse will be. They originally planned to build office space there. (See here)

Some people think Amazon chose Red Hook so they could ship containers, rather than use trucks.
Remember when Amazon didn’t set up in Queens and so many politicians cried?! Every non-politician knew Amazon was going to set up somewhere else in the city!

The proposed faculty in Queens was to be for offices, not a warehouse. Trucks not involved. Amazon has subsequently purchased the Lord and Taylor building on Fifth Avenue for use as a ‘tech hub.” Amazon currently has warehouses in Staten Island.
