Restaurant Owners Win with Nicole Malliotakis

Nicole Malliotakis stood with the restaurant owners in August and called for restaurants to have indoor dining. Malliotakis sent a letter to the city requesting guidelines for indoor dining. (See here) They spoke about a class action lawsuit on behalf of the Staten Island and South Brooklyn restaurants. (See here)
Yesterday they filed the lawsuit.
Today, Governor Cuomo said restaurants in NYC can open at 25%/. See story
And that’s winning!

This will keep some places in business. The Fall comes quickly in Bay Ridge and the owners will need to have indoor seating.
Good work Nicole Malliotakis and other politicians who stood up for Bay Ridge restaurant owners including: Vito Bruno of Bay Ridge (2nd from the left) and Mike Tannousis (far left), Councilman Steve Matteo from Staten Island (white shirt and stripe tie) and Senator Andrew Lanza (blue suit with striped tie) fro Staten Island.
Business owners in Bay Ridge have received very little support. How do I know? I asked them.
Where were the other Bay Ridge representatives? Senator Gounardes is an attorney and could have filed a suit on behalf of the restaurant owners. But all we saw Andrew do was take pictures of himself on the corner and put them on his website and in the local paper. Gounardes did not appeal to his friend Governor Cuomo for the business owners in Bay Ridge. We find this is a regular problem for him to speak out effectively for our community.
While this was a HUGE win for the business owners in our neighborhood, Councilman Brannan didn’t congratulate Malliotakis.
Brannan posted this on social media:

I am not a fan of Nicole Malliotakis’, but the truth is she was fantastic at listening to the business owners, standing up for them and being persistent about it. In fact, today she wrote:
