Businesses in Bay Ridge Fined
Yes, I heard about the fines this weekend and they are so high! They haven’t published this week’s restaurants yet. You can see the list here.
These restaurants have been fined for “violations of pandemic-related Executive Orders” (not social distancing or patrons mingling, drinking and walking around the premises without facial coverings).

| COMEAU GROUP (HOBRAH) | 8618 3RD AVE | 06/29/2020 09:44 |
| BAY RIDGE HOSPITALITY GROUP LLC (PEARL ROOM) | 8420 3RD AVE | 07/01/2020 14:50 |
| SALTY DOG RESTAURANT LTD | 7509 3RD AVE | 07/08/2020 09:41 |
| COMEAU GROUP INC | 8618 3RD AVE | 07/13/2020 14:24 |
| PHOENIX 384 CORP (XIN) | 8324 3RD AVE | 07/13/2020 14:31 |
| OSTERIA POSITANO LLC | 10018 4TH AVE | 07/28/2020 11:38 |
While some people will be annoyed with the owners for not following the ruls, these places are run by employees who may not understand the seriousness of the issue. It also can’t be easy to keep reminding patrons to wear a mask.
Update: This afternoon, Governor Cuomo’s site shared that Ponte Vecchio had it’s liquor license suspended. (See here)

I want our restaurants and bars to survive as much as anyone. I have been ordering plenty of delivery from local restaurants to help support them; and I have enjoyed outside dining at several restaurants that are doing it right.
I’m sorry but I have little sympathy for restaurants who are not following and enforcing the rules (social distancing, masks, outside only, closing time, limited capacity, no alcohol without food, etc). How is it possible for owners and their employees to not realize the seriousness of the situation six months into this pandemic? If they don’t enforce the rules with hefty fines and liquor license suspensions, many more restaurants would be breaking the rules — which could lead to a second shutdown for all.
It’s been great to be able to dine alfresco safely at local restaurants. I do not want to lose that by going backwards.
