NYC Sanitation Commissioner Wants For You to Clean The Street
NYC wants to loan the tools above and clean your own street so they don’t have to.
It looks like they will drive the tools out to you, so you can get sweeping!
On the website it says: “We support local community groups and block associations in their volunteer efforts to keep their neighborhoods clean through local block and street area clean-ups. Free loans of clean-up tools and equipment (for example, brooms, shovels, etc.) are available. For information, call 311.”
During the beginning of the pandemic, the Mayor and some City Council members advocated for cancelling alternate side “to help you, ” but then they couldn’t clean the streets because cars were there.
The Department of Sanitation reduced garbage collection in our neighborhood and 3rd Avenue really suffered.
Now they aren’t cleaning the streets because they don’t have money!?
You know the city has plenty of money from our neighborhood’s property tax. The least they can do is keep the streets clean.
If you do decide to do a street cleaning, protect yourself with gloves as many sanitation workers got Covid-19. Statistics are current:
