Did You Hear the Car Horns Today in BR?
This afternoon, cars with teens were lined up on Shore Road and the surrounding area beeping their horns to celebrate the graduates of Fontbonne Hall Academy in Bay Ridge. Some young women were hanging out the window cheering. Although this wasn’t the graduation they expected, they were very happy!
The parade of SUV’s with balloons traveled across Shore Road to the school on 99th Street and up and around onto Third Avenue.
Fontbonne decorated the outside of the school with balloons, banners and pictures of the graduates on the school gates.
The Coronavirus Pandemic has changed the way we celebrate. The quarantine and the requirement of social distancing didn’t allow the Class of 2020 at Fontbonne to have senior rituals, like prom and wearing white gowns at graduation.
For some of the girls at Fontbonne, this was their second big disappointment. Last year, some of them had to transfer to Fontbonne because Bishop Kearney High School closed.
Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
