Bay Ridge Rocks Spreads the Holiday Spirit
Bay Ridge Rocks shined like Rudolph, danced like Frosty and gave like Santa! The true meaning of the holiday shines through their rock project!
Bay Ridge Rocks is an organization in our community that painted 650 rocks to be delivered with meals to home-bound seniors, as well as given out at the senior center and an assisted living facility in Bay Ridge! See more of their rocks here.

Each painted rock was bagged and this message was put in the bag:

This thoughtful project of kindness also taught the children that participated, that their art matters and they can make a difference in someone else’s life!

The planning and work that went into organizing this had to be extensive! Rana Abu-Sbaih, the head of Bay Ridge Rocks worked with other groups too, so they could meet their goal! Cocoa Grinder Coffee Shop hosted Bay Ridge Rocks meetups at their shop…most businesses wouldn’t welcome a group of kids and paint in their business regularly!
Bay Ridge Rocks was formed almost two years ago (January 6th is their founding anniversary). Parents began meeting and painting rocks with their children for a few hours in the evening or on the weekend. At the time, Trump just started his presidency and every television station was broadcasting him. This group quieted things down for their families and had fun! Their group then hid the rocks around the neighborhood for other people to find!
After the rocks were painted, they were left around the neighborhood for other people to find and enjoy. The group has a Facebook page where people post their findings. I follow the page because it’s always nice to see a smiling face and beautifully painted rocks. Join their FB Page if you want to see happy people in Bay Ridge.
Thank you to Bay Ridge Rocks for sharing their gifts, showing the the true meaning of holiday spirit and building our community!
Merry Christmas Bay Ridge!
Hugs,
marlene
