Baci Restaurant Be a Better Neighbor!
Baci, I loved you. C’mon Salvatore, I want to love you again….but you are making it hard.
Baci is a fantastic restaurant at 8424 – 3rd Avenue.
Salvatore isn’t taking care of his neighbors. We don’t like that. We need our Bay Ridge businesses to take care of their neighbors.
When people go home, they want peace!
There were 17 complaints of amplification of music at Baci from August to October 2019. Baci had two speakers outside of their restaurant! Of the 17 complaints, the 68th Precinct said that nine complaints were unfounded….REALLY 68th Precinct?!
Who at the 68th thinks residents have nothing better to do than call them about the noise at a restaurant? The only way the NYPD didn’t hear the noise was if they didn’t show up or they waited until after the place closed to show up. When the officers from the 68th Precinct saw the speakers on the outside of the restaurant, why didn’t the officers ask the owner to remove them?
Why aren’t the NCO’s in Bay Ridge working like they do for other areas?
Josephine from Community Board 10 should not receive more than 5 calls about a business. By the time a business gets five complaints, the 68th Precinct should have stepped in and ticketed the owner. And ticketed him again on the sixth, seventh, eighth time, etc – until the message is clear. Some people need to be hit in the wallet to understand that the law applies to them as well.
It’s not right that Josephine and Community 10 fight for Bay Ridge and law enforcement doesn’t back them up. We have seen the 68th Precinct not follow through with community complaints before. See here
When Baci received the 3rd or 4th call about their music, they should have monitored the noise themselves. This is a sign of a bad neighbor. It’s okay if a placed messes up in the first month or two, as they are getting started and getting the staff trained, but this is months of being annoying! The District Manager should not need to write a business to tell the owner to comply with the law.
At the December Community Board 10 meeting, the notes said Salvatore told CB 10 that he removed the speakers outside. He did not – he disconnected the speakers, but they were still there. SMH…Don’t play like that.
Community Board 10 returned to Baci and requested that the wires to the speakers be removed. Finally, a CB 10 representative returned to check that the wires were removed. Thank you CB 10 for staying on top of this and standing up for your neighbors. Sending love to my neighbors in CB 10:
Baci….Do Better – Be a Better Neighbor – Keep your speakers indoors. Get sound proofing material and keep your neighbors happy…..because we want to love you again.
Hugs,
marlene
