Burglary Caught by 68th Precinct……No Arrest Until Today
![]()
A store on Fort Hamilton Parkway had a woman break into their basement yesterday.
As you can see from the picture below, the woman who entered the building threw the merchandise around.
The 68th Precinct caught the burglar in the act. Which is FANTASTIC!!! But then the officers didn’t follow through with an arrest.
The four police officers from the 68th Precinct did not arrest the woman because they said there was no evidence of her taking anything! Why would they go to the trouble of stopping the crime and then not arrest the woman? #SomethingIsn’tRightHere (Police officers if someone broke into your friend’s business, wouldn’t you want them to be arrested…..C’mon!)
The woman was sent to the hospital (see the link below for that part of the story).
Today, when the owners asked the 68th Precinct for a copy of the report from last night, they were told only a summons was issued. Someone broke into their building with the intent to take things and destroyed their property….and that person only got a summons!
Today, the store owners explained to the lieutenant at the precinct that they had over $1000 in damage. The owners went to a local news station with the story, so that may have influenced the arrest! The lieutenant said an arrest will be made today. The woman was arrested after she was released from the hospital. We cheered when we saw the store owners post that news!!
Why did the owners have to work to get the police to help them and arrest the woman?
Why didn’t the precinct act on behalf of the neighborhood? And what about the Captain? Why didn’t he order the arrest before the store owners arrived at the precinct? He had to know what was going on in his precinct.
Where are the NCO’s for that area? Why didn’t they follow up with the store owners and make sure this was handled properly?
The idea of ignoring the crime to keep the crime statistics down is wrong. Our Mom and Pop businesses are taking a hit with robberies. The 68th Precinct shared that Lily Bloom Cafe on 5th Avenue and 86th Street was robbed. See here
The details of this story are here. On Wednesday night look for their story on the local news station – I’ll link it here if I see it.
