Inhumane Treatment of Prisoners in Brooklyn
UPDATE: PROTEST on February 2, 2019 info here
On 29th Street in Brooklyn is a federal prison. Since Sunday, prisoners have been living in the dark and freezing cold prison without being allowed visitors. See daytime video
The sound of the inmates knocking on the windows with flashing lights is chilling.
The jail isn’t in Brannan’s district, but he’s a good person and he went to help.
This prison is in Carlos Menchaca’s district. I saw Menchaca retweeting Nydia Velasquez, but Menchaca is not in the video with the other politicians at the jail.
How was this treatment allowed to go on for so long?
Tonight, we know they were given hot meals, some heat and electricity has been restored in part of the prison. See here
Some people are still in the dark. At midnight, they were still signaling – see here
Prisoners need to see their family and friends, even if the prison has to do it one visitor at a time for safety.
