Mark Treyger Divisiveness Forced Me to Switch Parties

In 2012, when we had a problem on our street, one my neighbors said we should contact Marty Golden. Senator Golden’s staffers, John Quaglione and another man (no longer working there) were my contacts. For the next 10 months, when I called or e-mailed Golden’s office, they didn’t remember who I was or they didn’t call back. (See here)  Finally, ten months later, Quaglione tweeted me a response and told me nothing was going to be done.  I contacted another office outside of the district and asked someone else for help. Within weeks, the problem was corrected.

In 2014, Jaime Kemmerer ran for office against Senator Golden. Kemmerer was an amazing Democrat and he knew how corrupt Marty Golden was back in 2014 (some people are just finding out now). Kemmerer took action, but Mark Treyger did not support him. Without the two sides of the district united, Marty Golden won. Essentially, Mark Treyger helped  Marty Golden stay in office and that’s when Mark Treyger became known as a “bad democrat.”   Even Zephr Teachout came to stand with Jaime Kemmer outside of the Bay Ridge Manor. Where was Mark Treyger?

Before the next election, I spoke to a well-known Democrat at a Street Fair. I was told the Democrats did not have a candidate. The reason was because of Treyger.  Mark Treyger would not support a candidate in Bay Ridge because he/his club had a disagreement with Justin/his club (I wasn’t sure that this was true, until I read Charlie Ragusa’s tit-for-tat comment). I was told that the Republicans had a candidate, who was considering running against Golden. I went online and found the man. He was contemplating throwing his hat in and that would mean there would be a primary election. I changed my party, so I could support him and get the corrupt Senator Golden out of office.* I would not have changed parties if the Democrats put up a candidate, but Mark Treyger stood in the way of that happening.*  Senator Golden had given huge tax breaks to developers in Manhattan and his actions went unnoticed by most of the community because the news was not shared in any local papers. My husband, an Independent also changed his party, as did some other people. I was going to do what I could to vote him out. Unfortunately, the Republican changed his mind and didn’t challenge Golden because Golden had a lot of $$. My husband offered to run against Golden, but I didn’t want him to go to Albany.

It’s 2018 and Mark Treyger thinks Corey Johnson, the newer Democrats in City Council and residents don’t know how he *played politics* in our community all of these years and CONTINUES to give power to the Republicans through his support for IDC Senator Diane Savino. Mark sent out a message on Facebook saying that we should all be together. This video was taken this Summerdoes it sound like Mark Treyer is promoting unity?  We aren’t interested in Mark Treyger playing politics with his corrupt friends.

In 2015, I had spoken to Mark Treyger on Twitter and then in depth on Facebook.  Yet, Treyger was disingenuous in his tweet yesterday and pretended like he didn’t know me. I wrote to  Mark Treyger to ask him to stand with a woman whose property was being threatened with eminent domain in Coney Island. Carol Murray’s family owned the property for 100 years. Years ago, the city targeted my family’s business property with eminent domain. Leticia James was the only politician to stand with my family. After years of fighting in court, a judge freed our property because it was the misuse of  eminent domain. It was an obvious land grab and my family chose to fight it Pro se, even after knowning that most people don’t win eminent domain cases.   explained this to Mark Treyger and he told me that he would stand with Carol Murray.  Here’s Carrol Murray – Do you see Mark Treyger? The city brought people from various offices to speak in favor of using eminent domain on her property. Murray was intimidated and sold her property several days after the hearing. That night I went to speak to Mark Treyger on social media and he blocked me on both Twitter and Facebook.

In 2016, Mark Treyger became the District Leader of this area. Treyger has been a lousy district leader and keeps making bad choices of candidates for our community. Treyger supported Harris, even though she loved charter schools and gushed over Coney Island Prep.

In 2016, I realized Diane Savino was in the IDC and a little research showed Mark Treyger was supporting her:

In 2017,  when Justin Brannan went for his run for city council, Mark Treyger  put up an out-of-district candidate, Nancy Tong. Many thought Mark Treyger was going to endorse Kevin Peter Carroll because Carroll endorsed Treyger.   Nancy Tong didn’t have a shot here because Bay Ridge didn’t know her and it was clear she wasn’t knowledgeable about the area. Tong has been Treyger’s friend for years.  Elections are expensive and time consuming for the candidates and their families. Treyger knew how Justin Brannan was loved by his community and that Tong couldn’t win in Bay Ridge because of Brannan strong ties. As a District Leader, Mark Treyger was divisive in our community. *At this point, Frank Seddio should have asked Treyger to step down as District Leader.*  After Tong lost the election, Treyger endorsed Brannan. Brannan is a good councilman. I don’t know him personally, but he works hard for his community.

Choosing well is the secret to success in life. In 2018, when Pam Harris was charged with fraud, Mark Treyger jumped up again to recommend “another friend.”  At that point, Treyger should have sat down and understood he made a mistake with Harris – it was time to let the community chose.  From the video, we heard Mark Treyger’s anger as he spoke of Dr. Frontus preparing for a run. Did Treyger think Dr. Frontus should have consulted him about running? Harris was corrupt – it was only a matter of time before she was removed.  While Mark Treyger knew of Mathylde Frontus’  ties to Coney Island, Treyger pushed his friend, Ethan Lustig-Elgrably. Diane Savino even honored Dr. Frontus’ work. Treyger knows that Ethan’s education and experience can’t match Mathylde Frontus’.  Lustig-Elgrably knows the votes he received are because of  Mark Treyger. The UFT supported Ethan because Treyger asked them to. Eric Adams even admitted that he endorsed Ethan because he was asked….not because of merit. The Borough President and City Council Speaker, Corey Johnson didn’t even take 5 minutes to talk to Dr. Frontus. Both men made endorsements because of Mark Treyger – not because of the people.

In June 2018, Mark Treyger’s community asked him to vet the community. Treyger spoke to the people like they nobody and they didn’t matter.

For several years now, I have noticed that  Mark Treyger is not one of the first voices to speak up for Brooklyn. People have to poke Treyger to speak up for the community. In Assembly District 46, Treyger was one of the last people to speak out about the votes not being calculated. When he spoke out, he took aim at Dr. Frontus, rather than talking about contacting the Board of Elections as other Democrats did. This past Winter, when a pro-gun group was going to have an event at a restaurant in Coney Island, parents in Bay Ridge took action. Days later, Mark Treger spoke up.  In Bay Ridge, Justin Brannan is one of the first voices we hear from consistently.

Last night, Mark Treyger baited his friend to tell me I was jumping on the progressive bandwagon because it’s cool.   LOL.

Sorry guys I’m not 20 years old and interested in “being cool.”  Apparently, she was not aware that Mark Treyger is not a Progressive Democrat. Treyger supported the campaign of Diane Savino from the IDC. Senator Savino has voted for charter schools repeatedly:

Senator Savino funded Ethan Lustig-Elgrably’s campaign with IDC funds (she also gave money to the district leaders who gave it to Ethan).

While most of NYC cheered for their IDC challenge winners, South Brooklyn is the only area with the tail of the IDC still intact.  * Treyger is the reason we still have IDC control here. *  Not once did Mark Treyger speak against the IDC.   When I told Treyger’s friend that Mark endorsed two candidates who supported and who have voted for legislation in favor of charter schools – Pamela Harris and Senator Diane Savino, respectively, Treyger’s friend didn’t believe me. *Why hasn’t Corey Johnson spoken to Mark Treyger and told him that the Democrats are not supporting the IDC – no matter how much money they have to give out?*

Treyger’s friend also tweeted: “Unlike you, I have a history of public service and community work going back to when I was a teenager.”  This is the second time a friend of Mark Treyger’s has told me that I don’t do any community work. Kevin Peter Carroll was the first.  Treyger should stop making up stories about people. If you aren’t sure, then ask Mark.  Not only do I do community work in Bay Ridge, but I also do community work in Treyger’s district because my family’s business relocated to Gravesend several years ago.

Finally, I want to say that even as a registered Republican, I am a better Democrat that Mark Treyger. I don’t say this to brag, but  I have supported the campaigns of all the great Democrats in Bay Ridge. You can find my name (and even my husbands now too as he is tired of the nonsense) on campaign finance records. Although I never intended to be a political blogger, I am glad I have blogged about my support for and against candidates in this community, so Mark you can google any Bay Ridge candidate with queenoftheclick and find my support.

As Treyger and other politicians, like Golden and Malliotakis flood my local papers with press releases.  I write about what is actually going on in the neighborhood. I don’t lie or write about any candidate personally because that would make me the same as the local papers.  I will continue to write about Mark Treyger staying #Silent as he powers the IDC and uses his cronies, Eric Adams and Corey Johnson to support the IDC indirectly. If those two men aren’t smart enough to look into Treyger’s friends backgrounds and follow their money, then they shouldn’t be in office.

When Marty Golden’s seat is returned to the people in November, we will change our party again. My husband will return to being an Independent and I may join him. The Democratic Party is plagued with divisive Democrats  like Treyger and men like Eric Adams & Corey Johnson who are just too busy “playing politics.”  If there were more Democrats like Mathylde Frontus running for office, then I would definitely become a Democrat AGAIN.

Hugs,
marlene
