Marty Golden’s Speed Camera Blame Game
This is the speed camera bill that didn’t pass because Marty Golden diverted attention to his weaker speed camera bill and wasted the Senate’s time.
Here’s all the people Marty Golden has passed the blame to for the speed bill not passing:
1) John Flanigan I bet Mrs. Flanigan didn’t appreciate Marty Golden puttting the onus on John Flanigan and having protesters outside of her Long Island home. At the end of July, Flanigan was pushing other items into the speed camera bill.
2) Carl Heastie, head of the NY Assembly – Heastie and the Assembly passed the bill on June 21st. The Senate didn’t vote because Marty Golden wasted their time with his weaker stop sign bill.
3) Governor Cuomo. He said, “The bill is on their desk, the Assembly passed it. Just go back to Albany and pass the bill you refused to pass. You don’t need a special session, you don’t need a lightning bolt from heaven.””
4) Peter Abbate – Assemblyman Abbate already voted in favor of the bill. There’s nothing else he can do.
Golden says he has the votes for the speed camera bill. Why hasn’t he called John Flanigan and convinced him to reconvene for the vote? Is Senator Golden not as influential as he claims?
Don’t worry Marty Golden thanks himself for doing nothing regularly.
Who else will Senator Golden blame for the speed camera fiasco? I’d say Councilman Brannan and Mayor deBlasio are next.
