Senator Golden Lied About the Hotel in Bay Ridge
Senator Golden appeared on the video above called Your Voice. It’s a video made for the NY Senator and allows politicians to praise themselves. This video was published on March 21, 2018.
At 10:10 on the video, Senator Golden said that the owner of the hotel put in paperwork the day of the rally which was held on Friday, March 16th across the street from PS 104.
That isn’t true, the paperwork was filed on Wednesday, March 14th. Golden knew that because he held the paperwork in his hands during the rally. Every page has the date March 14th. See here.
- The date of March 14th is also confirmed in John Alexander’s article for the Brooklyn Eagle. see here. Alexander sees Senator Golden as the Johnny Cash of politics and often writes favorably about him.
This video is dated March 21st, but could be from the 19th or 20th (it was certainly filmed AFTER the rally) so why would Senator Golden lie about the date of the paperwork?
At the rally, Senator Golden said he knew about the hotel for four weeks (and he did nothing – he didn’t even speak to the prospective buyer……..Meaghan McGoldrick, a journalist for the Brooklyn Reporter was able to get the prospective buyer, Ankit Mehta on the phone and speak with him right after the rally. See her story here
At the rally, Senator Golden made some noise to make it looked like he cared so the newspaper would take his picture. But he still hasn’t taken any action other than to make a stupid petition for people to sign.
If Senator Golden couldn’t get the interested buyer on the phone after a week or two, why didn’t he go to Ankit Mehta’s office to speak with him?

So, a couple of things.
1. Senator Golden says he is so concerned about overcrowding. How did he vote on the proposals for the state to repay each of our local schools the MILLIONS of dollars they are owed?
2. What is he ACTIVELY doing to get seats in our district? He obviously knows how thats done, being in his position for so many years. Is anything happening on that front, or is it just hot air?
3. Saying there is crime at an East New York hotel isn’t about the hotel…its about a neighborhood suffering from terrible poverty. Insinuating that the crime in East New York is because of a hotel shows a complete lack of understanding about how and why crime exists where it does.
4. Does Mr. Mehta actually OWN a hotel in East New York, or is that a bunch of lies as well? I’ve heard from other sources that the owner is not the owner connected to the “infamous” ENY hotel.
5. The language used in the original social media calls to protest this hotel was wrong. Demonizing an already downtrodden and beaten up community in our neighborhood by insinuating that they are connected to drug use and prostitution (as if the drug use isn’t out there for all to see already….I mean even Golden said its not just a “ghetto drug” anymore) is unfortunate at best and hateful at worst.
Marty Golden needs to answer for the community if he wants to earn our respect.
