Gounardes Plans to Help Local Businesses in Bay Ridge
Andrew Gounardes plans to write a bill to help local stores in our area and throughout the city. “Gournardes’ plan would lower the statewide sales tax for items purchased at small businesses, but raise it correspondingly for items bought at larger stores.” See story here.
Senator Marty Golden doesn’t have a plan for the Mom and Pop stores in Bay Ridge. He has to see the empty storefronts because his office is on 5th Avenue. Golden held a press conference to talk about online retailers being forced to charge sales tax.
Our neighborhood thrives when local businesses thrive. Many of these merchants are strong supporters of local schools as well.
Hugs,
marlene
