Happy St. Joseph’s Day!
I am not Italian, although people always think I am. I have many Italian friends and of course I love Italian food. Today, March 19th is St. Joseph’s Day and they always bring sfingi or zeppole’s to my house on this day!
A zeppole is an Italian pastry filled with custard cream , while sfingi is a sweet ricotta filling (but I have heard and seen the words used interchangeably – even in a bakery)
Paneantico has good sfingi in Bay Ridge.
Rocco’s on 4th Avenue also has these pastries.
But I would go to Villabbate 7001 – 18th Avenue if you want the best sfingi in this area. It’s worth the trip.
