The protests have not died down, they have gotten larger and the police have given the protesters the street, so people can use the sidewalk. See the video here.

Update: Bay Ridge residents came out to support restaurants and bars.
Joe Pally and South Brooklyn Food and Drink did a great job on getting the word out, as there were a lot of people walking around stopping for drinks. It was good for business owners to see Bay Ridge supporting them too. Most people were social distancing….many with masks.

Narrows Botanical Garden at 7001 Shore Road in Brooklyn is having a cool sale on Sunday, June 7th at 12:00 pm.
They are selling bonsai plants for $50 – $200 donation (seen in pic above)
They are also selling the mini stone gardens in the picture above. So cool!

June 5, 2020Amazing Kindness – Feed Them First
Love Conquers Cancer is an organization that has helped people in the past. The organizers, Kevin Anderson, a retired firefighter and Steven Casatelli, raised money and have provided meals to front line workers.
Today, they brought Big D’s Food Truck to the Hospital Workers in the afternoon and evening shifts too. Read more about this group here. They accept donations to by Venmo @loveconquers-cancer.

June 5, 2020No Curfew for Racetrack Drivers – Bay Ridge 500
There is a curfew in NYC and we see videos of NYC police officers arresting people who violate the curfew.
Yet, in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights, The Bay Ridge 500 began!
Drag racers zipped around the neighborhood for hours competing!
The racers were happy that curfew got Bay Ridge residents home, so they could get started earlier.
Politicians put in their earplugs, so they could get some sleep before another day of press releases and photo ops. Senator Gounardes doesn’t even mention the problem.

A great neighbor made a counter sign – see it here. Bay Ridge doesn’t want nonsense like this in our community!
We have a couple of sign creators in the area…..too bad they aren’t smart people.
If you see this sign of someone’s stupidity, please take it down.
Children and teens live here and when they see dumb signs, they realize they are smarter than the adults who are supposed to know more than them.
They would never put up a mean or degrading sign about this man’s stupidity.
A few years ago, we met the local sign maker. In his wasted state (not alcohol), he came up to me to ask why I was removing a sign from a pole.
The sign maker didn’t see Lee walk up behind him. Lee ask him if it was his sign.
The signmaker said no and went home.
In all seriousness now….don’t put stupid things like this up because kids live here and the neighborhood shouldn’t be polluted with your stupidity. When I was growing up, the adults on my block were amazing and they never did things like this to their neighbors.
