August 6, 2020Sunset Beauty Salon Closed
Sunset Beauty Salon at 7807 -3rd Avenue shared that they were closed temporarily (see below), but now they are completely closed.
That makes four stores in a row out of business on 3rd Avenue and 78th Street: The corner shoemaker/dry cleaner, My Thai, this salon and Samia’s (which closed years ago). Update: New Thai Place is replacing My Thai – see here

On Thursday, August 6th from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm, four businesses on 3rd Avenue and 83rd Street are uniting to bring Bay Ridge a sip, shop and dine afternoon!
I love how these stores united to do this!
1) Charmed by JLM is a woman’s boutique at 8311 3rd Avenue. They are having a sidewalk sale with items from $5 – $20. Items inside are 20% off
2) Georgian Cuisine at 8309 3rd Avenue – this place is under rated. They have this amazing khachapuri which is a bread boat with cheese (we didn’t get it with the egg)
3)Red Oak is a Hookah Restaurant is at 8305 3rd Avenue. They deliver hookah!
4) Polonica is a Polish Restaurant at 8303 3rd Avenue. They have a nice backyard!
Deals on August 6th:
Grilled kielbasa $ 8.00
Homemade soups $ 4.00
Fish and chips $10.00
Polish beer (glass) $4.00
Red/White wine (glass) $5.00
Pierogi – 5 pcs. $5.00 *These are so good!*
Not on he list, but my friend who is Polish and comes to visit us always wants to go to Polonica and order this huge chicken (cutlet?) with potatoes. I get the pierogi’s (if you like potatoes, you will like pierogi’s)

It was sad to see the sign on their door because it took Fatty Daddy Taco a long time to open this place in Bay Ridge.
Another empty storefront in Bay Ridge.
Fans of their food can head to their other shops in Brooklyn, which are still open.

August 5, 2020Cellary Wine Shop Opened on 3rd Avenue
Cellary Wine Shop opened at 8916 – 3rd Avenue (where the Bay Ridge Bike shop used to be). The sell small production wines.
When the bike shop closed, we saw a tiny sign for cellary.
It’s a lot of work opening a business. Opening a business during a pandemic, must not be easy. But fortunately many people need wine during a pandemic – so go visit Cellary and find a new favorite wine.

August 5, 2020National Underwear Day Celebrated by V. Secret
Victoria Secret re-opened as an outlet store at 447 – 86th Street. No try-ons. Many people thought the store wasn’t going to re-open.
Today, August 5th was National Underwear Day and Victoria Secret had a deal for customers. Thirty-two women were waiting on line on the sidewalk on 86th Street!
The associates at Victoria Secret allowed a small amount of people in the store at a time due to the pandemic.
People miss shopping. Just wait to Sephora opens!

Flag Football is for boys and girl from 1st Grade to High School.
This is run by good people who love children and sports. See how they are ready to go for September?
The Dyker Heights Athletic Association will have Flag Football starting in September.
The fee is $285 for 16 games.
Registration is open knightsaa.org.
Games are at the gated Bay 8th field on Poly Place.
