Poly Place – Vehicles Towed Again

The 68th Precinct shared these pictures on Twitter today.

They had vehicles on Poly Place in Bay Ridge towed a few months ago.

Those vehicles just keep coming back.

Gounardes Makes Appearance at CB10 Meeting

Andrew Gounardes doesn’t attend Community Board 10 Meetings.

Except this week he did.

In June 2019,  Andrew thought he knew better than the members of Community Board 10. Although he didn’t attend the meeting, Gounardes wrote a letter to override CB10’s decision on bike lanes.  (See Gounardes’ letter)

Andrew Gounardes received support from a group who wanted painted bike lanes. Andrew Gounardes’ override placed uncovered bike lanes in our community. The bike lane near the highway showed Andrew Gounardes is not a street safety expert.  Other politicians have advocated covered bike lanes for safety, but not Andrew.

This week, Andrew was the only politician who was late to the meeting.

Schools in yellow zones have been closed for weeks and Gounardes didn’t do anything to get them open. Yellow zoned are areas which have low coronavirus rates and schools were supposed to be open. Gounardes is afraid to speak out against Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio.

Andrew  told Community Board 10 about a bill that won’t be voted on for months because the NYS Senate is not in session. Gounardes had no regard for their time at this meeting, as he was looking for votes.  Maybe if Andrew didn’t override the Community Board there would be less people who want to vote him out!

Also  Andrew Gounardes took money from developers and didn’t think we would find out. See here

Gray BMW Stolen in Dyker Heights

Tonight a gray BMW was stolen on 85th Street and 7th Avenue in Dyker Heights.

Too much crime!

A woman was robbed on 16th Avenue and 80th Street:

There was a robbery at a grocery store on 86th Street and 22nd Avenue earlier in the day:

While the crime and people stealing is alarming, I am glad people are not being shot. Things can always be replaced.

Noise From Paving 3rd Avenue

A few weeks ago, they scraped 3rd Avenue to prepare it to be paved.

Tonight, they came back to pave the streets in the 90’s and 3rd Avenue

If you are hearing a low, continuous sound in Bay Ridge,  you are hearing the paving.

No politicians mentioned it because they don’t care. It has to be on the calendar that the city shares with politicians.

It will just be one evening – put some music on and have a dance party.

Governor Cuomo’s Announcement on Schools

The rate of Covid-19 has dropped in some hotspots in Brooklyn and Queens. Yesterday, 2.17 was the citywide Covid positivity rate.

Bklyner shared this helpful map with data from 10/12 – 10/19: (See their excellent article

Purple zones is where Covid tested high:

Mayor de Blasio said, “Central Queens is doing better this week. Brooklyn and the Rockaways will require another week or two.”

Around noon, Governor Cuomo announce that he will redraw the zones and release a new map tomorrow. Mayor de Blasio said they are not using zip code data, but they will be using the zone data until this is resolved.

Schools in some areas will be able to open as the zones are reduced in some areas. Cuomo said he is going to go “block-by-block.”  See here

After Cuomo announced this on the news, Andrew Gounardes repeated the news like a parrot on social media.  He pretended he was “fighting to re-open schools.”

Tweeting doesn’t equal “fighting.”

Here Andrew Gounardes interprets what he heard Governor Cuomo say on the news because Andrew thinks people don’t understand the governor.

We don’t need a parrot for the Mayor or Governor.

No, Andrew parents in schools in the yellow zone asked why their schools weren’t open last week.

Why didn’t Gounardes call Cuomo and get the information for parents when they asked him at the end of last week?

We need politicians who can lead, not ones who tweet.

Plastic Bag Ban Goes Into Effect Today

Remember to bring your bag to the grocery store as the plastic bag ban goes into effect today.

If you don’t have a bag, you will need to pay five cents for each paper bag that is used.

Employees at stores will need to touch people’s recyclable bags. Right now during the pandemic that isn’t a good idea. Not one person in NYC Council has a little sense to forsee how this could be a way to spread germs.

We’ve been using fabric bags for more than ten years. Lee loves them. When I heard about the ban, I bought a set for our car. (These)

Bay Ridge BINGO Card Appears Online

Andrew Gounardes NYS Senator

Bay Ridge residents pulled out their BINGO cards this week on social media.

Residents want a change from the current situation.

Senator Andrew Gounardes and Councilman Brannan are not responding to conditions in the neighborhood. While police searched for a man, who attempted to attack an 85 year old woman, both politicians were silent.  Helicopters were overhead from 11:30 – 4:00 pm and not one politician gave the neighborhood a heads up about dangerous man being in the neighborhood.

Senator Gounardes waited until almost  5:00 pm to let people know.

My BINGO card has:  Press Release Politics in almost every box!  Get ready to have the wool pooled over your eyes this week Bay Ridge.
