Bay Ridge Scouts Wreath Sale 12/12 and 12/13
Troop 23 is the very active group of scouts that work in our and at the OLA Pantry.
This is a good group of young and they sell wreaths to help the defray the cost of their camping trip.
If you are social distancing, they deliver for $2.00 – that’s a bargain!
You can send a wreath (or poinsettia plant) to someone in Bay Ridge or Dyker Heights for $22.00)

Dyker Heights Man Arrested for Throwing Molotov Cocktails at NYPD Van
Matthew Piscitello from Dyker Heights was one of three suspects arrested for throwing Molotov cocktails onto Brooklyn NYPD in the Spring in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. See story here.
That’s awful!

Piscitello 21, was charged with arson, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and rioting. See story.

Brannan Flips Flops on Queens Rezoning
Just a few weeks ago, we saw Councilman Brannan issue a statement on Twitter that he would not support the Queens rezoning.
Today, Brannan was one of the 39 who voted against the Queens community. Those who abstained did so because they know their communities won’t vote for sellouts, but Brannan knows Bay Ridge won’t know about this. See here
Many thought Brannan would be sympathetic to the Asian residents who felt they would be displaced.
A few months ago, there was a rezoning for Industry City, Brannan did not speak up for Sunset Park, even when he knew that further development there would hurt Bay Ridge businesses. Fortunately the people – who are the heart and soul of Brooklyn stood up for Brooklyn and Industry City withdrew it’s plan.

RIP Dr. Ahmad Jaber
Dr. Ahmad Jaber, a community leader in Bay Ridge and the Arab American Community died from liver cancer today.
He was 73 years old.
Dr. Jaber was born in Yamoun, Palestine in 1947. He came to New York in the mid-70’s to do a OBGYN residency program at Lutheran Medical Center.
After he was married, he moved to Bay Ridge because he wanted to be close to the hospital.
Dr. Jabour delivered many babies in this area!
Jaber helped establish the Arab American Association of New York at 7111 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge.
Dr. Jaber helped support Arab Americans in America by serving on the board for the Arab Muslim American Federation, Islamic Mission of America, Brooklyn Congregations United and Brooklyn Heights Clergy Association.
Dr. Jaber also helped start the Beit al-Maqdis Islamic Center at 6206 6th Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11209. His funeral (Janaza) will be held there tomorrow, December 11 from 11AM- 1:30 PM.
The Governor and Mayor expressed their sympathies, as well as the Dr. Jaber’s imapact on the community:

We think Max Rose should challenge Justin Brannan. Brannan voted to defund the police and is very liberal.
