Man Robbed on 77th Street – Knife on 12/30
Early this morning a man was robbed on 77th and 3rd Avenue. Things can be replaced, but people can’t.
The next few entries are about crime in Bay Ridge.
Politicians and local papers don’t want you to know about it.
If you don’t want to know about it – don’t scroll down).

December 30, 202068th Precinct Missing Crime Stats

There are only two shooting incidents reported for the year in the 68th Precinct.
They are marked in blue on the NYPD Compstat Map below:

We know a Bay Ridge business owner was shot at on 86th Street in September. (See here)
We know he reported it to the police. Why isn’t it in the NYPD crime stats?
This incident happened just a few blocks from Senator Andrew Gounardes office and Gounardes did not mention it or assist the store owner.
This business owner went to the papers when no one helped him or spoke to him about it. He wanted Bay Ridge to know so that people would be cautious and alert. Local papers did not report it either.
The 62nd Precinct seems to have left out some statistics too. The military man who fired his gun at his neighbor were not noted in the stats. Gounardes did not mention this incident either (it was in his area, so he either doesn’t care or thinks it is okay that the statistics are incorrect).
When you hear someone say crime is down and you know it isn’t, trust your instincts. You live here and know what’s going on.

December 30, 2020Grand Larceny Auto is up 73% in Bay Ridge in 2020

Wow 135 reported incidents of cars being taken in the 68th Precinct this year.

That’s a 73% increase in larceny for our area this year!!
September was the worst month for these occurrences. We wonder why there were less robberies in September – were there more patrols?

December 30, 2020Robberies in Bay Ridge are Up 14.3%

We were surprised to see that robberies didn’t increase A LOT more in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights in 2020.
But we think some data may be missing because there are no robberies in a large section of Bay Ridge (see map above). #SomethingIsNotRight

Thursday was the most common day for robberies and Wednesday was the last common day.

Around 1:00 – 2:00 pm, there were no reported robberies, whereas 10:00 pm was a time when more robberies happened (followed by 1:00 am and 5:00 pm).

December 30, 2020Bay Ridge Rape/Attempted Rape is Up 14% in 2020

In 2020, rape and attempted rapes were up. There were 16 women that were attacked in our area. (See data and map)
During a virtual meeting, Senator Andrew Gounardes dismissed the rise in rapes as if it wasn’t important. The recording for that meeting never appeared online even though residents called for it.

If Gounardes took the time to look at the date, instead of dismissing it, he would have seen that that Monday is the most frequent day for rapes/sexual assaults BY A LOT. Tuesday and Friday had no incidents.

Even looking at the data about the times of these attacks could help law law enforcement adjust times for patrols.
In January 2020, we saw the beginning of problems when a man attempted to sexually assault a woman at the 95th Street station. Not one politician for the area mentioned the incident. She wasn’t someone they knew, so they didn’t care.
