Brooklyn Brew Cafe has a new coffee. Toffee crunch!
What’s in it? Heath/score bar, sweet and salty pieces of toffee melted in to rich espresso, blended with your choice of milk topped with pieces of candy over whipped cream or frothy milk!
I drink their plain coffee – it is THIS BEST COFFEE in Bay Ridge!

The Imaginary Workshop is Closing
Last February, The Imaginary Workshop opened at 8922 3rd Avenue. Now they are closing. The pandemic didn’t let them be in business this year.
The owner wrote this message:
Had the pandemic not hit, they would have done well here in Bay Ridge.
They are selling items:

We hope to see the owner come back after the pandemic.

LOL – Coffee RX Sees Ya!
Coffee RX’s message board rocks!
Imagine how grossed out the barristas must be because people come in without masks or with masks not worn correctly.
It’s the only place in the neighborhood where you can get Poohbear in your coffee. They just call it a bear, but the small ears make it look like Poohbear.
Coffee Rx is at 275 – 88th Street.

BarStool Funds Chose Chadwicks Restaurant to Receive Money
Chadwicks Restaurant on 3rd Avenue and 88th Street in Bay Ridge has been closed since NYC’s restrictions on indoor dining.
Well known pizza critic, Dave Portnoy, raised millions of dollars to help small businesses get by during this pandemic. (Info here and here)
We were thrilled to hear that Portnoy chose Chadwicks Restaurant to receive money from the BarStool Funds.

The best part of the video is seeing Jerry Morris, co-owner of Chadwicks, smiling when Dave tells him that Chadwicks will be receiving the Barstool Funds!
Jerry said that Chadwicks Restaurant would use the money to bridge the salary of the staff until the city allowed indoor dining and they can open again.
Chadwicks had to let their staff go, but they want to hire everyone back again!
Congratulations Chadwicks – we are looking forward to celebrating the end of the pandemic at your place!

Continued Calls for Malliotakis to Resign

I think politicians think people are joking when they tell them to resign.
People started the hashtag #MalliotakisResign – see here
A new petition was started asking Congress to remove Malliotakis. See here
Chris McCreight holds a position at Councilman Brannan’s office. Several people have told Chris to resign because he is no longer able to do his job as a district leader. When Chris took the position, he told us he would only support. candidates that were not with lobbyists. That has changed, so he should step down.
Nicole Malliotakis isn’t going to resign just because Democrats ask her to.
It took Malliotakis a long time and a hard battle to become a Congresswoman. She won’t just step away.

Serious Bay Ridge Fire – 84th Street Between 4th and 5th Avenue on January 10th
Update: Three families were affected by this fire. A fireman and two people had minor injuries. The home is totaled – all that is left is the bricks.

There is a serious fire that has been going on for a long time on 84th Street and 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge.
It’s a pretty home. (See street view)
The fire started on the first floor, but flames are coming out the 2nd floor. (See video here)
The street is covered with fire trucks.
Hopefully, the firemen are able to get it out soon and everyone is safe.
Neighbors of the home shared that the flames are down, but there is still smoke.
The citizen app shows that two people had injuries. (See here)
Prayers that these families and the ones in the adjacent connected home will be okay!
Update: This house is completely burned – just the outer shell remains. : (

Bay Ridge Sephora Special for Healthcare Workers on Tuesday, January 12th

On Tuesday, January 12th, Sephora in Bay Ridge is having a closed door appreciation event for healthcare workers from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.
Both Sephora and Pandora, which is also on 86th Street in Bay Ridge will provide a 10% off discount to healthcare workers with valid ID.
The local Starbucks will also be donating coffee and pastries!
