February 1, 2021Two Rapes in the 68th Precinct in One Month

There were two rapes in January in the 68th Precinct. The two blue dots show where they happened.

Two women were raped in our area this past month and no one spoke about….not the news, not the police and not the politicians.
This isn’t a secret to be silent about – this is a problem.

The first rape happened on January 1st around 6:00 pm at 72nd Street between 3rd Avenue and Colonial Road.
The other rape happened on January 21st at 5:00 pm – near 64th Street and the Brooklyn Queens Expressway.

February 1, 2021Schnepps Media Bought Kings County Politics
Wow Schnepps really wants to control what people in Brooklyn read! Story here
Schnepps owns most of the local papers in the area and now they acquired KCP. This could be a good thing for Brooklyn.
Is this the end of press release politics? I doubt it!

It appears the Brooklyn Paper is using KCP for local politics – that’s a good thing because Steve and the writers at KCP understand what is going on with lobbyists and developers being involved with politicians.
Most of the Brooklyn Paper journalists just accept what the politicians tell them. They aren’t like journalist extraordinaire, Kadia Goba, who will give background research and look at the different angles of a story.
Congratulations Steve! Let’s see if KCP is able to magnify the problem of corruption in Brooklyn!

February 1, 2021Low Cost Cell Phone Service – Mint Mobile Works Well Here

My husband helps seniors in the area with various things. Since COVID-19 started, he started helping them get connected to ZOOM, so they could see and talk to each other.
One of them expressed that she would like a cell phone to call people and have the web on the phone like everyone else, but she didn’t want the high cost phone bills.
Old iphones are all over the place. The one above is an iphone 6S. It could be purchased for around $80 on ebay if you didn’t have one.
We connected the 6S with Mint Mobile for $15 a month. (See here)

After signing up with Mint Mobile, they send you a SIMM card and let you use their service for two days before deciding if you want to sign up.
I was pretty impressed how easy Mint Mobile was to hook up and how good the connection was.
This may good for someone who doesn’t want to pay high cell phone bills or for a teen who you don’t want to go over the plan.

They also have a $30 a month unlimited cell and internet plan.
Disclaimer: I have no connection to Mint Mobile and they have no idea who I am.

January 31, 2021Why Do Cars to Continue to Park on the Sidewalks Outside Dealerships in Bay Ridge?

For years, residents have complained to Justin Brannan about certain car dealerships parking cars on the sidewalk and blocking people/strollers from passing.
The situation is an easy one: Call the dealership and speak to the manager. If the manager doesn’t comply and the situation continues, then the Councilman could call the NYPD and have all the cars ticketed. It’s not legal to park on the sidewalk in NYC.
But that doesn’t happen in Bay Ridge….Do you wonder why?
Someone tweeted the problem to Justin Brannan this weekend, (SEE HERE) Brannan responded by sending a tweet to Bay Ridge Hyundai.

Why would a politician continue to tweet someone about a problem if they have spoken to them about it for several years?
Residents who are tired of the politics snapped back at Brannan’s ridiculous tweet.
Screen shots of Brannan’s donations from the car dealerships appeared.
See here and here
Brannan was silent.
Why is money the thing that makes decisions for our neighborhood?
