March 28, 2021Frontus Cosponsors Pot Bill Called “Marihauana Regulation and Taxation Act”

Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus co-sponsored the “Marihuana Regulation and Taxation Act.” It isn’t even spelled correctly (see above screenshot) and it’s legislation – see NYS Site

HERE’S THE STRANGE PART: On March 24th, Mathylde asked on Twitter how people felt about it. #PlayingPolitics If Mathlyde was a sponsor of the bill, then she didn’t care what anyone thought. (And people told Frontus that)
On March 25th, Frontus said on Twitter that there wasn’t even a bill.

We are in a global pandemic and Mathylde Frontus thought that this bill was necessary now! She believes these are the benefits of the bill.
Pot was decriminalized in New York State in August 2019 (See here), so this bill is unnecessary.

Many people know someone who has overdosed and died. Drug overdoses were up in NYC in 2020 (See here and here). Neither Mathylde Frontus or Senator Andrew Gounardes introduced legislation to correct the problem. These are Frontus’ bills from last year. (See here)
Look at how many people overdosed in a short time period of time in NYC. Stats from NYC’s report:

Frontus also didn’t tell us that people that pot businesses are locked out of the Federal banking system. (Source) So pot businesses can’t use any of the big banks. This makes the marijuana business mostly cash and subjected to the same fraud as any mostly mostly cash business. Which also means the revenue generated for NYC will be far less than expected (and everyone will claim they don’t know why!)
How does this bill help the people in Coney Island and Bay Ridge? In Brooklyn, you can buy pot easily on most street corners. The drug dealer’s car is the one that stops on your street and one of your neighbor gets in. Your neighbor stays in the car for a few minutes to get his/her stash, then he/she leaves the car and and someone else hops in the front seat with the driver.
The news spoke about this bill and said: “NYC will become a multi-billion dollar cannabis center.” That doesn’t sound good. That means there is going to be a lot people walking around high and being morons. There will be a lot more accidents and then politicians will tell us that more red light cameras are needed.
When our representatives are talking to their colleagues in Albany, they forget they represent Brooklyn.
Brooklyn is an area where people take things to the extreme. Do you think people are going to abide by the three pot plants per person rule?
There are a lot more problems that the NYS Assembly should have be dealing with: tenants who don’t have money to pay the rent (the Eviction Ban is over on May 1st) and small landlords who aren’t able to make ends meet because they aren’t receiving rent. Families are worried. This is a hard position for people to be and representatives like Mathylde Frontus should have put them first BEFORE THE WEED!
I am sad to see Mathylde Frontus let Carl Heastie help take the heat off Governor Andrew Cuomo. People stopped talking about Cuomo to concentrate on the pot bill.

March 28, 2021A Man Died on 86th Street & 4th Avenue

There was a lot of police activity outside of Aye Kebob Turkish Restaurant on the corner of 86th Street and 4th Avenue this morning.

The police sectioned off the area outside the restaurant because a homeless man passed away on the street. (I don’t know who it was yet.)
RIP.

March 27, 2021Graffiti Art Kings = GAK on 65th Street

This section of Brooklyn is getting covered in graffiti.
It’s a gruesome stabbing painting on the corner of 65th Street and 7th Avenue.
Years ago when people did graffiti, they didn’t write about it like they do now. (See here)

I didn’t notice that Nunzio and Lucy Hair Salon on 4th Avenue and 92nd Street didn’t reopen.
This salon has been in Bay Ridge for a long time.
In 2019, the movie, The Kitchen filmed a few scenes with Melissa McCarthy there.

March 27, 2021Dear Lucretia Regina-Potter

I don’t actually know Lucretia Regina-Potter. But if I did, I would tell her to run for Brooklyn Borough President.
Lucretia loves Brooklyn and the Borough President should be a woman!
I heard that Lucretia may be running as a District Leader with John Quaglione. That would be terrible! Bob Cassara and Heidi are a great pair – let them revive the party! Republicans are needed to balance the socialists. (Hey Socialists readers – I don’t mean any hate – balance is good.) I love the age difference between Bob and Heidi – that’s great for everyone to be represented and bring in new people. Asians are not represented well in our community, so we need Heidi to make sure my students and their families aren’t left out of the conversation.
Why should Lucretia run for Borough President?
1. The Brooklyn Borough President has never been a woman! Lucretia knows that women are under represented and this would be a great position for her. She loves Brooklyn and some common sense is needed for this position!
2. Lucretia was a business owner. She knows businesses need all the help they can get. Eric Adams did nothing to help them, but the old Borough President shined a light on them!
3. Lucretia is well-spoken and would show up for businesses grand openings and events.
4. Lucretia loves animals. We saw someone in our area run a puppy mill and although the neighbors sounded the alarm and called the police and politicians, they couldn’t get help from local electeds. The law isn’t right for animals. And Justin Brannan did something that kept things that way for many years. (I’ll get into that soon).
5. Money and resources are wasted in NYC. There are areas in Brooklyn that aren’t getting what they need. Brooklyn is an area I chose to stay instead of moving to Staten Island or NJ. Why does it look so bad now?
6. Eric Adams flipped back and forth on many issues. Most issues have a simple answer. Gifted education is needed – the entry into these programs needs to be changed so that it is fair, but politicians aren’t willing to change the criteria – they want to take down gifted education.
When Lucretia ran for NYC Council, I saw she was all heart. She wasn’t pushing Republican politics. She wanted to help seniors and she discussed cats. Her appearance on television stayed with me because she was confident and knew what Brooklyn needed.
Most of the people running for Borough President have been bought. NYC doesn’t need that!
NYC is going to take a lot of time to recover and someone with a lot of spirit and a positive attitude. Lucretia has that!
Since things are repaired with party leaders and Regina-Potter, they should support her candidacy for Borough President!
Finally, Lucretia the Borough President should be a Kearney girl! She has the heart and the drive for this position that the other candidates don’t!

March 27, 2021Gardening Seasoning Has Begun!

We stopped by David Shannon Nursery at 3380 Fort Hamilton Pkwy. It’s my favorite place to get plants because we never have any problems with their plants, bushes or trees.

It’s also well-designed so people can easily social distance.
