CB10 Calls Out the Dealerships in Bay Ridge

At last night’s Community Board 10 Meeting, the head of Community Board 10, Lori Willis, called out the dealerships. She also mentioned the 68th Precinct as this accident was avoidable. (Video from last night will be here)

Willis echoed the words of Councilman Brannan in referring to the dealerships as bad actors. Willis stopped short of mentioning Councilman Brannan.

Justin Brannan has allowed this condition to exist in Bay Ridge for over three years. When Brannan saw cars weren’t being ticketed by the agents because they didn’t have plates, Brannan should have introduced a bill to target that issue. Cars without plates are ticketed all over Bay Ridge!

Instead, Councilman Brannan took five one thousand dollar checks from one dealership last February. (See here)

Brannan is another bad player in this mess.

He should be on 4th Avenue calling and waiting for the 68th precinct to show up EVERY DAY until this matter is cleared up.

See here

If you wish to speak at the Zoom meeting please email [email protected]

This is the meeting about the school – Block 6065 – Lots 28 and 39. Will someone have CB10 reveal who owns Lot 28 tonight? It’s important as this is about someone playing politics.

Tonight, I will write about the meeting and who stuck up for this community and who didn’t. Don’t let me down Bay Ridge.

Joe Joyce’s Bar is For Sale

Joe Joyce passed away last Spring. (Info)

Today, I noticed his bar, JJ Bubbles had a for sale sign. (See here)

Being that we are still in the pandemic, it’s going to be hard to sell now. Hopefully, things will be better in six months from now.

Holy Cross Outreach Center Opened in Sunset Park

Holy Cross Church in Bay Ridge knows people in our area need help.

They opened an Outreach Center at 6022 – 4th Avenue to provide a food and a clothing pantry to anyone who needs something. It is open Monday through Saturday 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Such kindness!! It had to take a lot of hours of preparation and fundraising.

If you would like to donate packaged food, toiletries, cleaning agents, or gently used clothing, shoes, blankets and backpacks, please feel free to stop by and drop them off during our operating hours.

Holy Cross was doing outreach for years before the pandemic started. They make meals for seniors. (See here)

They have been doing a monthly Homeless Midnight Run to Manhattan since 2008.

See how organized they are:

Holy Cross is accepting volunteers to help with their outreach! 718-836-3510 or this form on their site.

Consign Connection is Closing

Caught the sign in the window as we were driving by. It read: Store Closing. Thank you Bay Ridge. Final Day: April 26th.

I had a flashback to when I shopped there for a gift for a friend’s birthday. She had wanted a vintage bag that nowhere had – except Cosign Connection! The owner was so helpful!

This store has been open for 30 years – since 1991! On the website it says it is the longest running consignment shop in Brooklyn!

While it’s sad this store will no longer be in our neighborhood, the good news is that it will exist online. (See site)

Cosign Connection sells clothing, jewelry, shoes and vintage bags that are hard time.

Cosign Connection is at  8715 3rd Avenue – stop in and get the 50%+ deals before they are gone!

Good luck to the owner! Thank you for having a beautiful store for us!

Opossum With Babies is Brought to Rescue

Picture is from this video

A vicious animal was reported being on Colonial Road on the Citizen App around 10:30 am.

People reported the opossum as vicious, but she wasn’t vicious – she was injured.

Good people in Bay Ridge went to see what animal. They noticed the opossum had babies in her pouch and decided to take her to a rescue. They were able to get the opossum in a box and bring her to Manhattan to the Wild Bird Fund. From there she will be sent to Long Island for care.

Thank you to the wonderful people who took care of the opposum.
