Stop Cutting the Cheese, Kings County Republicans

Kings County Republican Party leaders keep cutting the cheese and dividing Republicans.
Cancel culture belongs to the Left, not Republicans!
In August 2020, the Kings Country Republican County Committee cut off the Brooklyn Young Republican Club. (See here) Big mistake! Joel Acevedo, a Sunset Park resident, brought new energy to the party. Acevedo is in the military, educated, hard-working and is in politics for the right reason. Most importantly, Joel is a Republican that is electable!
Now the GOP is trying to knock Avery Pereira, THEIR OWN district leader off the ballot using a technicality. Ted, what the heck is going on? Get the whigs together and stop the nonsense.
Apparently, Pereira chose to work with the person he thought was best and now the GOP is coming down on him!

Why does this matter to us? We need balance in our local government. Current politicians are openly making deals with developers. Our community loses when politicians act like developers are “doing us a favor” while they are doubling their millions in Bay Ridge!
This weekend, Pereira and his people painted with the NYPD. (See here). We didn’t see the other Republican District Leaders with a brush in their hand (no Bay Ridge elected pols were with the NYPD either).
The GOP needs people like Avery, who are young and motivated to move the party forward and improve their neighborhoods.
Read Avery’s social media (here). Even if you are a Democrat and you don’t like Republicans, it’s obvious Avery is a kind person who wants to help his community. Here’s what Avery thinks the government should do…..see what I mean…he’s a good person.
Why isn’t District Leader, John Quaglione stepping forward and speaking for Avery? Quaglione knows Avery. (See here) The GOP knows that Q won’t speak out against them….even if it means Avery goes down!
There are people who have spoken out for Avery….it’s called doing the right thing, even if everyone else is doing the wrong thing. (See here, here and here) Some hashed: #TeamAvery
Hopefully, Avery can pull through!
The GOP needs to get rid of those who are cutting the cheese and playing politics! Parker has called them out at false leaders and cowards. (See here)

April 15, 2021CB10 Refused a Liquor License for Luan’s Restaurant

This week CB10’s Police and Public Safety Committee Meeting refused to Luan’s Coffee Bar.
Luis, the owner of Luan’s had applied for a liquor license before and was refused.
WATCH this video and hear Barbara spell very clearly why CB 10 will not recommend a liquor license for this storefront.
Barbara presented slides about the police having to visit Luan’s multiple times. Luan’s Coffee Bar had a fully stocked bar even though they didn’t have a NYS liquor license.
Luan’s served liquor without a license, served minors and people were arrested for fighting. There were twenty noise complaints for karaoke (it was reported as yelling – LOL).
Barbara especially didn’t like that the new application had the hours of operation extended to 4:00 am on Thursday – Saturday.

(Side note: We need Barbara to be present at meetings when Councilman Brannan is wheeling and dealing poorly placed schools in the community.)
The rest of the Committee was very satisfied with Barbara’s presentation and backed her up. Because when Barbara was done – there was nothing more that needed to be said.

April 14, 2021Malliotakis Needs to Advocate for Equity for NYC Students to Have Better Internet Access
As the only rep from #NYC on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, I continue to advocate for a tailored and bipartisan bill that focuses on the transportation needs & infrastructure improvements/ modernization that would benefit #StatenIsland, #Brooklyn & rest of #NYC. pic.twitter.com/hJQv92OdMB
— Nicole Malliotakis (@NMalliotakis) April 14, 2021
Internet access is essential now – like a textbook was years ago. All of our elected politicians should be advocating for equity and providing students what they need to connect to their schools.
The students working remotely during this pandemic are rockstars. Many haven’t been inside a school building in over a year, yet they show up early to their Zoom meeting and are ready to learn every day!
When they lose connection to their class, they come right back on and don’t complain, even when it happens multiple times.
These students support and cheer on their classmates, who they have never met in person. While many people will tell you when the students have lost over this year, there have also been many gains.

April 14, 2021Gounardes and Brannan Play Politics With Endorsements

Did you see Andrew Gounardes or Justin Brannan advertise a townhall for Brad Lander?
The above ad was on Lander’s social media, but we didn’t find it on Brannan’s or Gounardes’.
How do these two politicians support a candidate who they know has been benefitting from a property tax loophole for years? Lander lives in Park Slope and pays less than half the property tax of Bay Ridge, even though his home is worth a lot more.

Around 1:30 pm today, a car flipped over on its side on the Belt Parkway in Bay Ridge. (See video here)

The kindness of strangers can be seen as people run over and try to help get the car back upright.

Nice video clip from someone who was in the park as well. (See here)
