Eddie, Thank You For Being a Great Neighbor

One of the reasons Bay Ridge is such a great place is because there are a lot of really good people living here. Eddie and Tommy’s Mother saw this dog running and picked it up.
They knew someone was missing this cutie. Tommy shared the info online, the dog was scanned and the owner was found.
Such kind people!

September 28, 2025Jerry Fishman’s Firetruck Was Donated to The South Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department

In August 2024, Jerry Fishman died. He was a Bay Ridginal and a wonderful man, who many of us miss.

On Saturday, Jerry’s wife, Diane donated Jerry’s custom mini firetruck to the South Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department. They name it “LiL JEDI,” which is a combination of Jerry and Diane’s names.
They were excited and they planned to get it restored and running for their 2026 Memorial Day Parade. Many people will admire it for for years to come!

Friends of Jerry’s were there taking pictures until the firetruck was loaded onto a flatbed and on the way to its new home. Dino D. took these photos.

Beautiful story….which honors the life of a beautiful person. We were lucky to have known Jerry.
Whenever I think of Jerry, I think of this sweet story:

September 27, 2025FlynnStoned Cannabis Shop is Advertising Across the Street From a School in Bay Ridge

Legal cannabis shop, FlynnStoned on 5th Avenue and 81st Street in Bay Ridge put up large advertisements on 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge – across the street from PS 104.

That is not acceptable. This store should not be advertising across the street from a school. Other legal cannabis shops in the area have been quiet and have not put up advertisements in the area.

And why does FlynnStoned have a cute stronaut as part of their advertising if their products are for adults?
When Senator Andrew Gounardes saw a concerned parent share these photos yesterday afternoon, he should have taken action for the community.
Andrew Gounardes voted in the NYS Senate to allow legal cannabis shops in the community. When they aren’t following established protocols, Gounardes should be responding.
Gounardes’ children don’t attend this school, so it isn’t a priority to him.
