See the Story on Untapped New York

From June 2, through June 23, fans and locals can share which locations they would like to see featured on the board by emailing the official MONOPOLY Brooklyn team at [email protected].

What should we add? Shore Road Park? The Gingerbread House? Dyker Lights?

Bay Ridge, Politicians and Money. Who Was Left Out?

I like that Assemblywoman Frontus shares her funding. For the last two years she did a great job on sharing the money throughout the area.

Here’s the problem with money in our community: It doesn’t go to the community. It goes for not-for-profit groups.

Some of these organizations are fantastic and do amazing outreach. (Grandma’s Love)

Some of these organizations receive money already from Brannan, Gounardes and other money from City Council.

The Arab American Association received a lot of money already. LOOK:

Councilman Menchaca was running for mayor, so I guess he really wanted their support and funded them well!

But seriously….should groups receive that much money?

The Bay Ridge Community Development Center is very new and most people don’t know about their events because they don’t advertise them well. They are in St. John’s old spot at 9818 Fort Hamilton Parkway.

The Women’s Empowerment Coalition is also a fairly new group. I think they worked with for Congressman Max Rose. Why would these get the same amount of money as Grandma’s Love? Let me make a prediction here: this group will be fighting against Nicole Malliotakis in a few years. (That’s why we have to see which groups are political.)

The YMCA is a great organization. But $80,000 for The Healing Center? Do we have a huge domestic violence problem in Bay Ridge? I haven’t seen anything report about an increase of domestic violence in Bay Ridge. But the office is funded by many already (See here)

Something is weird about their address as on Facebook it says…it’s a mailing address only. (See here) Their website calendar has no events (here).

Coney Island received money for great initiatives which affect the whole community. Bay Ridge didn’t. I’m disappointed with Frontus’ use of money this year. Our community received increases in property taxes even during Covid and Mathylde Frontus completely ignored that.

*** Dyker Heights didn’t receive anything – not even for a school or children’s organization? Why did Frontus leave them out? That is not right. ***

Where a politician places the money is important. It’s disappointing to see Assemblywoman Frontus ignoring issues in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights and funding the same organizations as other politicians.

But it’s at least better than Senator Gounardes, who is unwilling to show where money is going.

Ross Barkan’s Book on Governor Cuomo

Rose Barkan has another book due out on June 29th. Barkan’s topic this time is Andrew Cuomo.

The book entitled, The Prince: Andrew Cuomo, Coronavirus and The Fall of New York has a great cover!

Barkan looks at Cuomo, who was originally hailed as a pandemic hero until the truth came out COVID-19 and the nursing homes.

Barkan’s book launch is on June 24th at the Tradesman on Bushwick Avenue at 7:00 pm. Strangely, it says there will be a special guest appearance!! RSVP here

While I don’t think it will be a best-seller, I do believe the book will be on interest to many historians now and in the future.

I am always asked if I know where there are any apartments for rent.

There is a two bedroom with security on Parrot Place. I don’t know any more than that – watch the video and call the realtor.

One Garbage Can – Owls Head Park

Central Park uses this for garbage (See here)

One can isn’t cutting it. People are doing the right thing and bringing the garbage to the can, but it’s already packed.

Year after year – the same problem. Women please run for office and buy some garbage cans so we can check this off the list.

$1000 Offered for the Bay Ridge Donut Flinger

As we saw in the last episode of “Bay Ridge Politics as Usual,” Republican District Leader, John Quaglione announced that a donut had been thrown his way. (See here)

He was going to “check the cameras,” but his neighbors didn’t have any footage.

All joking aside, everyone wanted to say what Heidi and Bob’s campaign manager, George wrote to Quags:

Now a $1,000 reward has been offered that leads to the arrest of the donut tosser!

Of course Councilman Brannan commented too.

Bay Ridge Republicans, remember to go vote for Bob Cassara and Heidi Chan!

I love seeing their signs all over the place! Remember to get out and vote for Bob Cassara and Heidi Chan. You can feel the energy and good vibes coming!

Lula Fashion Opened on in Bay Ridge

A new woman’s boutique opened on 3rd Avenue and 93rd Street, next to Champions Martial Arts.

The store is called Lula Fashion. On the bottom of the sign it says, “Outlet Brand.”

Sorry for the bad drive-by photo – didn’t have time to stop in this morning. The front window was setup with some nice blouses and there was a rack outside with more shirts.

Congratulations to Ledya on opening her business in Bay Ridge. We hope you love it here!

This used to be the storefront for Tic Tac Toe Middle Eastern Food – such a nice family owned that place.
