Two Men Stabbed Man – 77th Street Train Station

Around 8:00 am this morning, two men stabbed each other on a Manhattan-bound R train. (Source)

UPDATE: One man was smoking pot on the train and the other man didn’t want him to, so he knifed him in the neck. Then the news reported that the guy smoking pot took out a knife and cut the other guy. (Source)

The men got off the train at 77th Street and 4th Avenue. The police met them and had them sent to the hospital. (Source)

Both men went to NYU hospital and their stab wounds were considered non-life threatening thankfully. They are both expected to be charged with assault. (Source)

Update: Around 10:30 am, Councilman Brannan wrote on Facebook that the two men were homeless and the R train resumed at 9:45 am. (See here) Why was the issue of their housing necessary? This article and this article didn’t report that they were homeless men. In the first article, both men are referred to as gentlemen.

Years ago, Brannan used to give the community updates right away.

Justin Brannan Sits on the NYC Council Committee For Public Safety. Why Does Their September Agenda Have One Item?

We have seen a lot of violence this Summer in NYC. We have seen a lot of problems on our streets and subways.

The NYC Council Committee hasn’t done much about public safety.

Adrienne Adams is the head of this committee and she didn’t want to defund the police in 2020. She spoke out about those who were protesting last Summer: “When those with privilege put down their torches and return home, our Black, Latino and Asian communities will remain.” (Source)

Why is the NYC Council Committee on Public Safety concentrating on reducing the responsibilities of the NYPD at their first meeting after the Summer?

*** They should be concentrating on working with the NYPD and making the trains safer, so people want to ride them again. ***

Our NYC Council Representative, Justin Brannan serves on this committee.

Why isn’t he doing more for NYC?

The police in Bay Ridge stepped it up in cleaning up this neighborhood during the pandemic when Brannan failed to do his job.

The NYPD were the ones painting over graffiti – not Justin Brannan. No one asked them to – they did it because they understand Brooklyn and know graffiti tags a community.

Click here to see the actual document – just in case you thought the above one was cut off

Last June, Councilman Brannan engaged in conversation online when a man inquired about him voting to defund the police. Brannan wrote: “Ya, I’m in.” (See here) Leaders have a responsibility to change the language and work cooperatively with the police.

Brannan heads the Committee for Resiliency and Waterfronts for NYC and wrote on Twitter last night that resiliency projects were not happening. That is not true because a huge project is happening in NYC. See the responses to his tweets here.

A community in Manhattan is upset because a large portion of the East River Park is going to be closed and many trees are going to be taken down because of a project. Environmentalists were concerned about this. They went to see Councilman Brannan. Brannan’s staff would not allow them in the office, even though they were wearing masks. (See here) Brannan didn’t schedule a meeting with them. They wanted information about the park and to see the documents that weren’t blacked out.

Pet Store Window Glass Kicked in – 13th Ave.

The glass at The Diamond Collar pet store at  7101 13th Avenue was kicked in this morning.

Police officers guarded the store until the manager was able to get there.

The sad part – it’s an added an expense for the store owner and it’s hard to find someone to repair the glass on Sunday.

Accident on the Belt Parkway Near 82nd Street

Photo from video – see here

An accident happened on the Belt Parkway this afternoon after 3 pm.

While this car has terrible damage, no one seemed to be hurt, so that was good. Other cars that were pulled over don’t look as bad.

Gounardes’ Response to Two Deaths is to Bring in the Street Safety Taskforce For a Photo

A woman and a child have died in two separate accidents in our area this week.

Senator Gounardes didn’t take any action after two deaths in our community now.

Instead, Gounardes tweeted that he will bring the Street Safety Taskforce back! If you recall, that’s the group that didn’t want their photo taken and haven’t done anything about street safety in our area. (See here)

Senator Gounardes is playing politics on our area. We’ve seen other politicians use the word “taskforce” and many people are fooled into believing something is being done. (See here)

Our area also had the “unity taskforce” that met once a year for breakfast and politicians used to say “they met with the unity taskforce” but the taskforce wasn’t doing anything all year to work on issues.
