Today, The 68th Pct. Community Council Sent Out a Link to a Crime That Happened Aug. 26th

The 68th Precinct wrote: On August 26th opposite of 405 – 99th Street, a victim was approached by two individuals from behind.

The two individuals physically assaulted the victim and removed his property.

Please take a look at the video.  If you have any information about the individuals  please contact the NYPD Crine Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477.

Why didn’t the local politicians share this? They are too busy commenting on Trump. We need people who are more connected to the community.

Xaverian HS Students Hurt in an Accident on Narrows Avenue Between 81st and 82nd Street

This afternoon near 3:00 pm in Bay Ridge, a woman driving a Jeep lost control of her vehicle at Narrows Avenue and 81st Street and crashed into a Nissan sedan. The Jeep also hit into three parked cars and then two Xaverian High School students who were walking on the sidewalk.

Both 16-year-old students were taken to NYU Langone Hospital. One of the girls suffered serious injuries after being pinned by the vehicle — prayers for her healing. Prayers for these student’s families, who had to receive this news.

Contrary to reports on the Citizen App claiming a person was trapped in the car, it was actually the student who was pinned by the vehicle.

Residents noted that the Jeep had out-of-state plates. The news shared that the driver was 18-years-old. The Nissan was driven by a 65-year-old woman and had a 34-year-old passenger.

The drivers of the Jeep and Nissan (plus the passenger) were taken to Maimonides Hospital and all are alright.

The 68th Precinct Police taped off Narrows Avenue between 81st and 82nd Street and are still investigating. There is video of the accident.

Adam from Loudlabs shared this video:

Senator Andrew Gounardes stated that the driver was speeding.

Instead of urging the Brooklyn District Attorney to charge the driver, Andrew Gounardes took to another social media account to post a more vulgar message — “Slow the F down” — apparently believing that kind of language appeals to his base.

Councilman Justin Brannan did not write anything – he just shared Gounardes’ statement.

Instead, Justin Brannan thought posting about his dinner on social media was worth sharing. Unfortunately, this kind of social media use shows how misplaced our community’s priorities have become.

Bay Ridge, these two politicians give our community just one weak voice. A teen was seriously hurt and we should have seen immediate calls for the driver to be charged.

* Parents shared that a student was hit by a vehicle after school outside of McKinley Junior High School on Fort Hamilton Parkway this week. Neither politician shared any information about it. I haven’t seen anything online about this accident.

Update 10/12/25: Xaverian High School shared this message:
