September 11, 202120 Years After 9/11
It’s hard to believe that twenty years have passed.
Did people forget? Absolutely not – the moments of that day are so clear in my mind.
We lost a good friend on that day. Tonight, like all 9/11’s since he has passed people will gather to remember him. Mostly, I wonder what his life would have looked like if he was still here.
In Bay Ridge, I live next door to where Gus used to live. I didn’t move here until years later, but strangers always stop and ask me about how his family is.
It’s twenty years later and America should be in a better position than it was years ago. But the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan last month is a sign that not a lot has changed.
