Mathylde Frontus Talked About Street Safety and Her Duty of Care Bill

Assemblymember Mathylde Frontus held a meeting about safety on Zoom tonight.

Frontus spoke about her Duty of Care Bill, which she has seen passed in other states. People have a Duty of Care to respond when they are involved in an accident. It’s a simple bill and shouldn’t be needed, but it is. A duty of care means that they call for help if someone is hurt.

Brooklynites spoke to Frontus about some hot spots in their area. Frontus said she that the streets in Bay Ridge have a different feel because of the speeding.

Maura spoke about the speeding in Bay Ridge.

Residents asked for a stop sign for some areas.

Electric scooters and electric bikes were spoke about as well. They don’t seem to have a responsibility or understand the rules of the road. Transalt was asked about that.

One of my favorite people in Bay Ridge spoke about 86th Street and 4th Avenue.

Then the meeting went down hill after that.

At one point, a man from the other side of the district recommended that every camera be made into a red light camera. He didn’t know that Councilman Brannan received 16 tickets from speed cameras, so we know the red light cameras are not effective. (See here) People who ignore the rules of the road don’t care how many tickets they get. **We need other ideas other than speed cameras, Bay Ridge. One man at the meeting wanted a red light every camera to be a red light camera!

The technology of red light cameras is not improving our streets – everyone can see that. We need new people who are willing to try new things now!

Ocean Parkway was also spoken about by several people.

One man spoke about people parking in bus stops and how this is very unsafe to let people out when someone is parked in the bus stop. At the end of September, Councilman Brannan got a ticket for his car being in a bus stop:

Hate Grows in Brooklyn Because Leadership is Close to Non-Existent

The man above walked into Beit Elmaqdis Islamic Center at 6206-6th Avenue in Sunset Park and posted this on the doors of the mosque. See the video here.

The leadership in Brooklyn is weak and this guy doesn’t fear the media plastering this on television because he sees other people doing the same and getting away with it. (See here) It took seven days for Councilman Brannan to speak about that video in a private Facebook group.

The only politician who I saw speak out against this hate is Assemblymember Mathylde Frontus and this is far out of her district! Frontus will stand up against hate wherever it is!

Councilman Brannan and Senator Gounardes play “it’s not my district” because this happened a few blocks outside of Bay Ridge. But the families who attend this mosque are from Bay Ridge, so both politicians should have made a strong statement. This man said businesses are being targeted. We know Ayat was targeted.

This is a house of worship and hate can’t be allowed to grow in Brooklyn.

Brannan is aware of the situation because his friends shared it here

Hate breeds hate.

Now people are seeing these signs in Bay Ridge. If you see one of these signs, please throw it out.

Is There a Work Slowdown for Sanitation in Bay Ridge? Ridgites Speak Out for Neighbors

Update: 10/29Monday night’s garbage has been out all week. Last night everyone put out the garbage for today, but there has been no pickup. By now Councilman Brannan should have sent the drone lobbyists to pick up my garbage.

10/28 Some blocks saw pickups for Monday done on Thursday.

Sanitation workers are being forced to get vaccine, so many believe that is causing the slowdown.

Our garbage was supposed to be picked up on Tuesday – it’s Thursday and there is garbage all over the street. People left it out because they hope it will be picked up overnight (like they do when there is a holiday)

Two Bay Ridge neighbors, Rosemarie and Dominic reported to Channel 1 News that garbage wasn’t picked up on Saturday and they Department of Sanitation didn’t pick it up today either. Now the garbage is decaying on their block.

They put their trash out for Saturday pickup and it was not picked up. In Southern Brooklyn and Staten Island have reported that garbage isn’t being picked up. The news suggested that it may be due to the vaccination requirement for all workers at the end of this week.

There is no politicians managing this area, so people are calling the news for help. It’s been this way for over a year now. (See here)

RoseMarie and Dominic pay high taxes and shouldn’t have to make call to get the trashed picked up.

Thank you to Rosemarie and Dominic for calling in the problem and shining the light on it. Other people in our neighborhood spoke out on social media about it:

Guy had been missing for two months! He’s a little bit thinner, but overall he is doing well.

His owner, Ryan didn’t give up on finding him because he loved the dog so much. They were able to put a trap out for him at the last place he was seen and they got him! You probably saw the missing flyer on social media:

We’re glad this story ended with the owner and dog being reunited!

Gournardes Called Out Republican Driver, But Was Silent When Brannan, Lander & Williams Were Caught Speeding.

Gournardes commented on this article. The politician in the article is a Republican and she has less camera tickets than Councilman Brannan. Yet, Andrew Gounardes felt compelled to insult her on Twitter.

Senator Andrew Gounardes didn’t say a word when Jutin Brannan, Brad Lander Lander or Jumaane Williams were caught speeding repeatedly. (Info here, here and here)

Gouanardes shouldn’t be playing politics on this top; he should speak out against any politician who is an idiot behind the wheel – not just Republicans.

Anyone who puts people in danger should not be in office. It’s not a separate set of rules for Democrats and Republicans!

Bay Ridge, we said NO to Steve Saperstein when he ran against Mathylde Frontus because it came out in the debate that Saperstein took money from a developer. (See here) Gounardes didn’t tell people that because he doesn’t find anything wrong with that. (See here)
