This was such a beautiful tribute:

Many prayers for Anthony’s family and friends. Please pray for his mother – no parent should have to bury their child.

The degree of the injuries are still unclear. *Hopefully, both officers are okay.

January 29, 2022Car Windows Broken on 72nd Off of Colonial in Bay Ridge
There was a few cars that had their indows broken on 72nd Street off Colonial Road in Bay Ridge.
The drivers window was smashed.
We read on Citizen that someone was carrying an axe around that area.
We feel terrible for all of our neighbors who went to their cars and saw that AND now have to have it repaired.

January 29, 2022Norma’s Arts & Crafts Store in Bay Ridge is Closing

Norma’s Arts and Crafts Store is one of the stores that makes Bay Ridge feel like Bay Ridge.
It’s a shop that sells everything I need all the time!
I am sad to hear that it will be closing in March. Where will I go to get supplies quick (especially those large bottles of glitter)? Norma’s allowed me to grab what I need for projects quickly!

The pandemic continuing this long has really hurt small businesses. I wish there was another business that would partner with Norma and keep the place open.
Our community was lucky to have Norma and her amazing store!

January 29, 2022Three Jolly Pigeons Has Pie Day Today

Three Jolly Pigeons has Pie Day today, Saturday, January 29th from 3:00 pm onward.
3JP is at 6802 3rd Avenue.
The Three Jolly Pigeons bar has been around for a long time. When I was a kid, my Grandma and her friend (both widows for many years) used to joke that they were going to the Three Jolly Pigeons to find a new boyfriends. They were the cutest Irish ladies with their hair dyed and styled perfectly every day. Even now, I can’t help but smile when someone mentions Three Jolly Pigeons.

January 29, 202222-Year-Old Man Murdered on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge This Morning – RIP Tony

Just before 4:00 am this morning, a group was having a dispute on 3rd Avenue and 73rd Street outside of Catrina’s Restaurant. The Daily News said the quarrel started inside the restaurant. (Source)
Several men were fighting with sharp objects (Source). The Daily News wrote that up to ten men were fighting. (Source) Police were called, but the suspects left before the police arrived.
A 22-year-old man was found stabbed in the chest outside on the ground. (Source) He was brought to NYU Langone hospital, but died there. RIP Tony. Prayers for this his family and friends who are hearing this news today. Anthony Donofrio was just 22-years-old and had his whole life ahead of him. (His friends are having candle vigil on 2/1 – see here)
Another 22-year-old man was cut on the head and brought to the hospital in stable condition. Thank goodness he is alright.
No one was arrested. (Source)
I went to see if the Citizen App had any videos. Strangely, there was a bar fire at Catrina’s three hours earlier. (See here)

Not one politician wrote about this on any social media accounts (although Brannan is playing on Twitter already this morning).
No newspaper in our area has written about this morning – only one paper had the story. Even the NY Post didn’t share this story until the afternoon. (See photos of NYPD in the early morning)
Update: The Brooklyn Paper has the story this afternoon (here) – Brannan blamed Catrinas for having “a dangerous pattern of illegal and reckless behavior.”

In October, Councilman Brannan made a similar threat to Chill Hookah Bar, but they did not lose their liquor license. (See here)
As usual, late to the party, Gounardes mimicked Brannan. He also has never shared any information about Catrina’s being reckless or neglectful.

Senator Gounardes and Councilman Brannan should be increasing security in Bay Ridge now that someone has been murdered.
Businesses can’t be blamed for the patrons actions, unless the business owners are doing something to encourage that behavior.
If there was well-documented and illegal behavior at this place – why aren’t there any articles about it? Justin Brannan should write press releases about public safety instead of this nonsense.
We haven’t heard the 68th Precinct mention any problems with Catrina’s either. Why hasn’t Community Board 10 mentioned this business for illegal behavior? #SomethingIsntRightHere
