Vaping Lounge on 3rd Ave Closed – New Place
We saw the Vape Rite Lounge closed on 7322 3rd Avenue.
There was a new bright yellow sign. The sign says: “Coming Soon. Stay Tuned.”
The same sign has been on a storefront on 5th Avenue for many months. It looks like a pineapple – so maybe a juice place?

Why are all those shrubs overgrown on 3rd Avenue? It’s a mess! There is graffiti on the building and the it’s not being maintained.
There has to be some general maintenance.

Dead Man Found in Dyker Heights – 72nd Street
Around 11:30 am, a dead man was found in the driveway at 931 -72nd Street between 10th Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway in Dyker Heights. (Story here).
The article states that the deceased man had no signs of trauma.

The security camera shows that another man brought the body to the back of the driveway on a hand truck. (See video) How awful for this man and the person who found him!

The medical examiner has to determine the cause of death. The article doesn’t say if the home owner knew the man.
RIP. Prayers for this man’s family and friends as this news will be shocking and awful for them.
Strangely, a man’s body being dropped off in someone’s driveway has not made it to the news or any politician’s social media pages.
That area is represented by Senator Gounardes, Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus and Councilman Justin Brannan. Update: Brannan tweeted these song lyrics:

Brannan Didn’t Sign Affordable Childcare Letter
Today, Councilman Brannan tweeted this:
It’s an odd tweet because Justin Brannan did not sign the letter that the Progressive Caucus sent to Chuck Schumer asking for more federal funding for childcare. (See the letter)
Brannan is a member of the Progressive Caucus, so it’s strange he didn’t sign the letter. Alexa Aviles, who represents Sunset Park and the new District 38, which Bay Ridge will be a part of did sign the letter.
The letter was written on July 11th and shared it online on July 12th.
Why didn’t Councilman Brannan sign the letter for Chuck Schumer to increase childcare?
Councilmember Julie Menin from the Upper East Side introduced childcare bills in NYC, but a date to vote on them has not been set.

Free Concert in Shore Road Park Tonight 7/26
Tonight there is a free concert in Shore Road Park at 7:00 pm.
“The Rhapsody Players” will be performing on 79 Street and Shore Road. They were practicing and shared a sample here and here.
If it rains, then the concert will be tomorrow night.

Ewwww Rats on 3rd Avenue
Some businesses in Bay Ridge are using their outdoor dining well.
Some have rats.
These structures need to be moved and cleaned under. The businesses should be taking care of their area.
A video shared today showed a place with 4 rats (3 in the pic above – one on the other side).

NYPD Pursuit Over Stolen Catalytic Converter
Last night, the police pursued a group of three men in a white Infiniti G35 with NJ plates, who they believe stole a catalytic converter.
The car was last see on Bay Ridge & 8th Avenue.

Man Robbed 63rd Street and Ft. Hamilton
Just before 1:00 am, a man was robbed on 63rd Street and Ft. Hamilton Parkway by four men.
They took his phone and his money and drove away in a small black car.
