Pink Conchas – Pan Dulce in Bay Ridge
To my Sunset Park friend who now lives in Staten Island. THIS IS FOR YOU!
On Wednesdays, pan dulce is being sold at Cafe Por Favor Tacos at 8125 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge. (Also called Pink Concha because it is shaped like a shell)
Pan Dulce was sold at bodegas all over Sunset Park when I was growing up. I never saw anyone buy it. Now that I am older, a lot of people have asked me where they can get it in Brooklyn.
Translation: pan – bread dulce – sweets concha – shell

Christopher Basile Was Found 9/16
9/16 Update – Hooray he has been found!
9/15/22 Update 11:45: Chris hasn’t been located yet.
Christopher Basile, 19 is missing from Staten Island.
Basile is a student at the College of Staten Island.
He may be in Brooklyn so take a look around.
Chris went missing Tuesday, September 13th. He was last seen at 3:50 pm getting off the ferry into Manhattan. The picture above is of Chris from from the surveillance video at the St. George Ferry Terminal.
He was wearing a a brown zip-up hoody with 3 BUTTERFLIES on the left side of the hoodie, beige khaki pants, white sneakers, a black mask, a baseball hat and he’s carrying a stuffed black backpack.

Chris is going through a hard time as he lost his best friend.
Chris is 5’6″ and 130 pounds – thin build.
If anyone has any information of his where abouts or has seen him please call 911 or 1 800-577-8477.
Chris, if you see this call your family. Everyone on Staten Island is worried about you. You don’t have to go home – just tell them you are alright.

Vigil for Children Killed in Coney Island

Zachary, Liliana and Baby Oliver are with God. Some nice people are having a prayer service in Coney Island on Thursday, September 15th.
If you are the praying type, please pray for their Mother – even if you don’t feel like it. She isn’t well and the road ahead is very dark without her children. I can’t think of anyone who will need more prayers.

This isn’t labeled as “Mommy and Me” because those who are running the program know that Mommy is probably at work!

Car Wash for BRAVO on Sunday 9/18
BRAVO is the local ambulance in the area – it’s phone number is 718-680-1111.
We are lucky to have an organization like this in our neighborhood.
On Sunday, September 18th, BRAVO will hold a car wash outside their office on 7th Avenue from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Bring your cars or you can donate here.

Dog Digested Rat Poison at Owls Head Park
Jax, a dog in Bay Ridge has rat poisoning from Owl’s Head Park.
Dog owners, wait a few days before bringing you dogs there.
There should have been many signs at the entrance of the park to warn dog owners. Jax’s owner found this one damaged sign inside the park.
Jax is sick and taking medication. Hopefully, he will be feeling better soon.
Thanks to Jax’s owners for sharing this information to keep other dogs in Bay Ridge safe.

Jungle Bowls is Coming to 3rd Avenue-Bay Ridge
Jungle Bowls is coming to 8821 – 3rd Avenue. This used to be the storefront for this auto leasing business:
The storefront is being redone and this manager is making sure everything will be beautiful for opening day:
This juice bar and acai bowls are a welcome addition to the neighborhood! Congratulations to the new owners!

Maks Yukelson Has Been Found
UPDATE: Maks Yukelson Has Been Found. HOORAY!
Maks Yukelson is 86-years-old and went missing from 80th Street and 21st Avenue on Bensonhurst, Brooklyn today.
Maks is 5’6″ and 180 pounds.
He is bald and has a gray goatee. Maks was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and white shorts.
Max suffers from dementia and his family is worried.
The police have been looking for Maks. If you see Maks, please call 911.
He has no ID on him. Please share.
Oscar, Maks’ grandson will update here when Maks is found.

Harry Potter Balloon Installation at The Bookmark Shoppe
The Bookmark Shoppe had a Harry Pottery balloon installation done in their front window – it’s so pretty!

Harry Potter fans are going to love this! Stop in and see it on 3rd Avenue and 84th Street in Bay Ridge.
