Lenny’s Pizzeria is Closing For Good on Sunday

Lenny’s Pizzeria, which is best known as the pizzeria that John Travolta ate a double-stacked slice in the 1977 movie, Saturday Night Fever just announced that they are closing for good on Sunday. It’s been open for 70 years!

Josephine wrote that her father, Frank Giordano is 77-years-old and it is time for him to retire and enjoy time with the family.

Frank has owned Lenny’s for 40 years. He told The Daily News he sold the building. (See below)

Many people in Brooklyn are attached to this iconic pizzeria and will be sad to hear about the short notice to get their last slice. Sunday, February 9th is the last day they will be open.

We will miss the stories from this pizzeria on 86th Street and 19th Avenue….Coca Cola Sundays!

Happy Retirement, Frank!

Another Rape in Bay Ridge – First for 2023

A woman was raped (or reported a rape) on Sunday, February 12th at 11:00 pm.

Not one elected leader thought to mention that a woman was hurt in our area. Yes, you can mention that a crime has happened without giving personal details about the victim.

The location reported on Compstats is 3rd Avenue and Ovington. You can see this map at Compstats – here. Last week there was a hate crime in our neighborhood according to Compstats.

Let’s elect leaders who can speak about rape and crime….and what we can do as a community to stop it.

*Prayers for the woman in our community who was hurt.

Andrew Gounardes, Hector LaSalle and The Constitution

Living in a district, led by a Senator who had little regard for the Constitution is alarming.

How did gerrymandering happen in 2023 when everyone is aware it is against the Constitution. Andrew Gounardes knew his district was gerrymandered for ten years and he didn’t have the courage to create a fair district in front of his colleagues.

The judge that is being replaced is Janet DiFiore.

Judge DiFiore was one of the judges on the Court of Appeals, who told us that state legislatures violated the state Constitution when they made the Congressional Districts. (See here – read this, you will understand A LOT)

Progressives like Andrew Gounardes, are looking for a Progressive judge to fill the seat, so they can push liberal things, like the gerrymandered districts.

On Twitter, Gounardes ranted against Hector LaSalle. But his outrage on social media didn’t translate to much when Gounardes questioned LaSalle before the committee. A reporter noted:

Another thing Andrew Gounardes didn’t tell his district, but Spectrum News did tell us is that more senators were added to the judicial committee of the NYS Senate. That shouldn’t have been allowed, but it is probably the reason Governor Kathy Hochul pushed for a full senate vote.

Today, Hector LaSalle was in Albany for the full vote with the Senate, they voted against him (39-20).

LaSalle sat with cameras in his face. Who does this to professional, distinguished man, who has served NYS for years?

NYS senators are heartless. (Even if it was the procedure, when Andrea Cousins knew she had the votes against LaSalle (see here), they should have had the vote without him present). Not one senator, including ours, stood up to call for the right thing to be done.

Hector LaSalle deserved better treatment in the NYS Senate, but didn’t receive it because politicians were playing politics and not being decent human beings to each other.

I wish I could talk to Hector LaSalle and tell him about how cowardly Andrew Gounardes was about the new districts – he didn’t even share the maps with the community.

Hopefully, Hochul will nominate a moderate and not a progressive for the position.
