Seniors, on Friday, January 27th, there is a Lunar New Year Celebration at 8681 – 18th Avenue at 11:00 am.
It looks like it’s going to be a good celebration and they are serving a lunar new year snack.

Attempted Abduction at Synagogue in Gravesend

Around 9:30 this morning, a man in traditional Jewish clothing went up to a 9-year-old child in a synagogue on East 7th Street in Gravesend and asked the boy to go outside with him.
The man picked up the child and attempted to walk out with him! (Story here)
The boys mother intervened and pulled the boy away from the man.
The people at the synagogue knew the man, so the Shomrim were able to get him.

Upper Level Closed on the Verrazzano Bridge
High winds have closed the upper level of the Verrazano Bridge so there is more traffic on 4th Avenue than usual.
There’s a lot of horn honking because people are frustrated by the delays and the rain too.

5 Million Dollar Scratch Off Sold in Bay Ridge

I wonder how many she scratched before she won! They are $20 scratch offs!
The winning ticket was bought on January 6th at K&K’s Last Stop Deli on 4th Avenue and 100th Street. (Here)

Andrew Gounardes Thinks “Real Progress” Was Made With Vision Zero While It Was the Deadliest Year for Children
Andrew Gounardes does not represent the community he was raised in.
Andrew can’t even say the truth to people. 2022 was the deadliest year for children. (See article)
Sixteen children in NYC died due to speeding and children being hit by cars. The red-light cameras don’t stop repeat offenders because no one loses their license when they accumulate many tickets.
Before Gounardes became Senator, he harped at the former senator’s driving. (Info) When Andrew’s friends drove recklessly, Gounardes was Silent. It was okay with Andrew.
When Andrew went to Albany, he represented lobbyists interests for the red-light cameras and didn’t get things done – so more children died.
Who does this to their community?
Gounardes won’t tell you that he didn’t hold drivers accountable or make sure that NYS did something, but the paper told us. (Source) If it was about changing the streets, Andrew would have taken action.
Earlier this month, when Norm Fruchter was hit and killed by a person driving backwards up a street in Bay Ridge, Andrew Gounardes didn’t do anything – Gounardes didn’t even tell Bay Ridge it happened. I found out about Norm’s death on Twitter.

Cancun Bar and Restaurant Mexican Grill
Cancun Bar and Restaurant Mexican Grill opened at 7204 3rd Avenue.
I didn’t see a menu or website for this place. but people were inside.
Mi Tierra and Don Mario were sharing space at this location. It’s also next door to Las Margaritas Restaurant.
