February 15, 2023Andrew Gounardes, Hector LaSalle and The Constitution
Gov. Kathy Hochul suffered a big political defeat Wednesday as the state Senate rejected her pick to lead New York’s highest court. @MKramerTV has more. https://t.co/VZllQrkDZV
— CBS New York (@CBSNewYork) February 15, 2023
Living in a district, led by a Senator who had little regard for the Constitution is alarming.
How did gerrymandering happen in 2023 when everyone is aware it is against the Constitution. Andrew Gounardes knew his district was gerrymandered for ten years and he didn’t have the courage to create a fair district in front of his colleagues.
The judge that is being replaced is Janet DiFiore.
Judge DiFiore was one of the judges on the Court of Appeals, who told us that state legislatures violated the state Constitution when they made the Congressional Districts. (See here – read this, you will understand A LOT)
Progressives like Andrew Gounardes, are looking for a Progressive judge to fill the seat, so they can push liberal things, like the gerrymandered districts.
On Twitter, Gounardes ranted against Hector LaSalle. But his outrage on social media didn’t translate to much when Gounardes questioned LaSalle before the committee. A reporter noted:

Another thing Andrew Gounardes didn’t tell his district, but Spectrum News did tell us is that more senators were added to the judicial committee of the NYS Senate. That shouldn’t have been allowed, but it is probably the reason Governor Kathy Hochul pushed for a full senate vote.
Today, Hector LaSalle was in Albany for the full vote with the Senate, they voted against him (39-20).

LaSalle sat with cameras in his face. Who does this to professional, distinguished man, who has served NYS for years?
NYS senators are heartless. (Even if it was the procedure, when Andrea Cousins knew she had the votes against LaSalle (see here), they should have had the vote without him present). Not one senator, including ours, stood up to call for the right thing to be done.
Hector LaSalle deserved better treatment in the NYS Senate, but didn’t receive it because politicians were playing politics and not being decent human beings to each other.
I wish I could talk to Hector LaSalle and tell him about how cowardly Andrew Gounardes was about the new districts – he didn’t even share the maps with the community.
Hopefully, Hochul will nominate a moderate and not a progressive for the position.

February 15, 2023Upside-down Car on Belt Parkway Today

Mike Ragusa shared these photos of the car upside-down on the Belt Parkway this afternoon. Ragusa thanked the NYPD and the FDNY.

If you flip your car on the Belt Parkway, you should be arrested for speeding. The speed you need to go to flip a car has to be very high.
While I hope everyone in the car is alright, the amount of emergency response vehicles needed should be paid for by the person who was speeding.

February 14, 2023Grandma’s Love’s Book Vending Machine in SI

Tonight Grandma’s Love was on Channel 1 News!

Theresa Monteforte of Grandma’s Love put a book vending machine at Staten Island University Hospital for pediatric cancer patient. Theresa has been putting these machines in Brooklyn hospitals, as well.

Giving patients some joy and something to do while they are being treated is amazing and…..so thoughtful!

The vending machine can hold 250 books at a time.
This Winter, Lee got a chance to talk with Theresa. After speaking with her, he said to me, “I can see why you like her so much, she’s incredible.” Yes, she is because Theresa is an angel!

February 14, 2023Applause for the 68th Precinct – For Yesterday
When I saw the video of the police pursue the U-haul, I knew someone was seriously hurt because Deputy Inspector Tolson told us awhile back that the police will not pursue a criminal. They had to in this situation, so that no one else was hurt.
While the U-haul was speeding our neighborhood hurting people, the smart officers in the video belo realized children were outside outside Bay Ridge Prep. They raced there and had the children go inside.
PRESS PLAY:
Thank you Lieutenant Vitale, Officer Santini and Officer Ingebrethsen. These are officers who know this community and I am grateful for their quick-thinking!

* They shot and burned this 19-year-old student. Did they do this because he was gay? * (See here)

What a nightmare this must feel like for DeAndre Matthews’ family. Please pray for DeAndre Matthews mother, who raised her son all these years, he’s in college and then this happens!
