June 9, 2023Attempted Car Jacking on 78th Street in Bay Ridge Has Councilman Brannan Playing Politics

Early this morning, around 8:05 am, there was an attempted carjacking on 78th Street between Colonial and Narrows Avenue.
Watch the video – it’s bad. (SEE VIDEO HERE)
A black BMW SUV with NJ plates drove down 78th Street.
The SUV stopped and pulled backwards. The driver got out and walked over to where a white SUV was parked in the driveway. The white SUV was running. The man opened the door to the white SUV and realized the driver was inside. The driver leaped out of his white SUV and chased the car jacker. The (potential) car jacker ran to his car and drove away.
Our neighbor with the fast reflexes was sitting in his car with his two small children. They were waiting for the Mom to come out.
He saw the black SUV back up. Our neighbor was on alert and waiting. When the car jacker opened his car door, he jumped out and chased him. (His neighbors shared this information, so that everyone is aware of who is in our community and is cautious.) As our neighbor chased after the car jacker, someone from his home went down the stairs. (See Video Here)
The story was shared on Twitter and Facebook (with video). Neighbors shared what happened because they wanted the community to be aware of what is going on in the morning.

On Twitter, Councilman Justin Brannan responded to one man who shared the story and told him that it didn’t happen. Brannanites then insulted the guy because Brannan said he lied (when he didn’t)

Brannan insulted the man with this ridiculous statement:

Councilman Brannan responded a bit more acceptably on Facebook (this post was the neighbor sharing the video):

BUT COUNCILMAN BRANNAN DID NOT TAKE ACTION FOR BAY RIDGE.
This is another example of Justin Brannan not being able to lead in this community. I am glad that the Facebook community saw the Brannan did not take the situation seriously – it is time for a new leader.
Council Brannan left this message on Facebook and ranted about running cars without people in them – that was not the situation here! This was a parent waiting in their driveway to take their child to school.
The appropriate response would be for Councilman Brannan to get some police to patrol the area AND let the community know about the incident. The reason the black SUV is cruising these blocks is because they know that no one is around.

June 8, 2023Were Shots Fired Outside of the 86th St Station?

Tonight around 10:15 pm, the Citizen App showed a message about shots being fired outside of the 86th Street.
The police know right away if shots were fired because they have Shotspotter in our area – it’s technology to detect gunshots. (See here)

In our community, one politician should have seen this and contacted the NYPD by now and updated the community about this.

June 8, 2023Man on Scooter Tried to Escape the NYPD

A guy on a scooter tried to escape the NYPD on the bike path in Bay Ridge – near the Verrazzano Bridge.
Watch Loudlabs video and you can hear the police sirens, but the guy on the scooter continued riding, instead of pulling over.
Once the man on the scooter crashed, he jumped up and tried to run away. The police officers ran after him and arrested him!
Loudlabs always shares the latest news with Bay Ridge!
Councilman Justin Brannan sponsored the legislation to allow scooters and ebikes on NYC streets – he didn’t just vote for it. You can see Brannan is a sponser here and here.
While some obey the law, many scooter and ebike users know they are untraceable and that’s why they will try to escape the police. Everyone needs a license, so they are traceable and accountable.
Brannan is unwilling to update the law to make this happen, even though residents complain about ebikes and scooters every week.

We are thrilled to hear this good news and we wish him well!

June 8, 2023Man Slashed at 95th Street in Bay Ridge

This morning, a 54-year-old man was slashed on the collarbone when he got off the train at the 95th Street station in Bay Ridge at 5:45 am. The NY Post wrote that it was an unprovoked attack. (See here)

The NY Post shared that the victim was slashed with a switchblade and is now at NYU Langone Hospital. We hope he heals up fast.
The suspect was in his 30’s and ran off.
This station in Bay Ridge has become problematic because the homeless men that ride into the station are not receiving the help they need. Andrew Gounardes and Justin Brannan have taken photos in the station and continue to leave the homeless pn the train because they think we don’t care.
Neither politician mentioned the slashing or warned early morning riders in Bay Ridge that the killer is still on the loose, but Ari Kagan wasn’t afraid to talk about it.
