I never thought I would write The Three Jolly Pigeons and the word ‘beautiful’ in the same sentence, but it’s true!
3JP got a makeover and it looks amazing!
They are calling people in with their sangria and spicy watermelon margarita!
When I was a kid, I felt my Irish grandmother was lonely because both my grandfather died long before I was born. I would encourage my grandmother to go to The Three Jolly Pigeons and find a boyfriend. My grandmother was in her 60’s and wasn’t looking, but she would tell everyone that I told her to go to 3JP to find a husband!
I’ve never heard anyone in the Asian community calling to give criminals a “clean slate.”
Senator Andrew Gounardes was pushing for Clean Slate. Iwen Chu voted in favor of a Clean Slate, which means that people who went to jail for manslaughter, deserve a Clean Slate in eight years (it was written as seven on one of the bills).
Records will automatically be sealed three years (for smaller crimes).
I’m shocked that a mother would vote to clean the slate for people who have killed other people’s children. Many cases are settled with plea deals down to manslaughter.
Roll-n-Roaster brought back the crinkle-cut potato rounds, known as cottage fries.
Regular visitors to Roll-n-Roaster were not happy when the cottage fries were replaced on the menu last year. NYC Youtuber, Michael Quinn had a petition to bring back the old fries!
Some people love the old style – some love the new. Roll-n-Roaster didn’t get rid of the new ones when they brought back the cottage fries. They are called Dippers on the menu.
They will have FREE business resources and development specialists offering opportunities for financing, marketing/social media, hiring/training staff, navigating government agencies and much more.
Someone should hire two teenagers to deliver a flyer to each merchant so they are all invited.
I like that there is an Arabic translation, but a Chinese translation would be good too.
This morning, two women were going door-to-door in Dyker Heights. One resident heard their dog barking and went to the front door. She spoke through the window to find out why the women were on her stoop. They asked if anyone was deaf or hard of hearing in the house.
The Brooklyn resident asked the women to please leave and they responded, “we need to know if anyone is deaf or hard of hearing.” These could be pushy salespeople for an earpiece, but it’s a strange visit on Sunday morning.
Last night there was a driveway visitor in the 80’s at 9:50pm.
At 12:00 am, a different man walked up the stairs of the same house.
* Last week, an 82-year-old man had his watch stolen on 17th Avenue and 86th Street. (See here)Not one local paper reported it, even though the theft was reported to the police!
Why are elected leaders allowing people to stake out the neighborhood and rob seniors? Their silence and failure to act says they don’t care!
No one should be walking around neighborhoods trying doorknobs and walking in people’s backyards.
I love Assemblyman Lester Chang’s message! The respect towards other cultures by leaders is important.
Happy Puerto Rico Day Parade today! Let us wave our flags??high, remembering not only the resilience & strength of the Puerto Rican community but also their significant contributions in music, cuisine & leadership that have left an indelible mark in our city. #PuertoRicoDayParadepic.twitter.com/keYSoyKbJF

Speaker Adrienne Adams is alive at the parade!
The hottest party in town is happening right now at the 2023 Puerto Rican Day Parade!
On Tuesday, June 13th, there will be more filming in Bay Ridge and more parking restrictions in the area.
Shore Road between 83rd and 86th Street has orange ‘No Parking’ signs for a project called Out of the Kitchen. A Google search shows that this is the code word for: “Out the Kitchen: is the title used for Daredevil.
AlsoCommunity Board 10 announced that there will be filming at Xaverian High School on Tuesday. They didn’t say who was filming.
I wish that filming companies that used street parking provided residents parking codes to use at nearby lots, so residents weren’t inconvenienced in a busy area.
Some Day Spas in Bay Ridge had arrests for being creepy salons, but there are a lot of great ones out there for a good massage:
In Bay Ridge:
1. Lavender Body Work 7504 – 3rd Ave (between 75th and 76th Streets). Full body – $40 for an hour. A lot of people go here because they also have a punchcard that allows you to score a free massage.
2. Bruno Salon and Spa -6911 Shore Road. I know three female friends who went here this Summer and said they got a good massage. Bruno has a deal for $34 for an hour massage. See here.
3.Tang Spa called Tang Dynasty Wellness Inc. – they used to be at 7406 – 5th Avenue – near Gino’s, but they moved to 7720 – 5th Avenue (See here)
4) Rejuvenate Beauty and Spa – 405-92nd Street. Friends went here for the 1 hour $50 massage
5) King Spa 7905 – 5th Avenue – a friend went and said they gave good massages. My friend did a smaller package that is not listed on their website (see below) so it was cheaper – just a back massage. Kings Massage is across from Skinflints Bar.
6) Salon Da Noi & Spa 8214 5th Avenue, Brooklyn 11209 – Barbara or Stewart. They have a peppermint stone massage that is pretty good. Super Relaxing. 718-491-3000 Closed on Monday – closes early on Sunday.
7) Green Spa – Vanessa – Very good – not cheap deep muscle (Beth left and went here, but also does home visits – see below. Beth gives the *BEST* massage) – Green Spa gives massages to both men and women. 88th Street and 3rd Avenue 718-921-6100. Closed on Monday. 1) Green Nature 1931 86th Street – strong massage, no frills (no aromatherapy) massage $25 a half hour or $40 an hour (slightly noisy from subway) Green Nature Inc. 1931 – 86th Street – 2nd Floor
Groupon always has deals for spas. Some of them are cheesy, but they are usually very good because they are using Groupon to attract new customers. I’ve noticed that a lot of places will be great on the first Groupon visit, but then leave things out like the hot stones or towels on the later visits. But they are cheap and sometimes that’s what is needed! Heavenly Bodywork was first on Groupon and a lot of people discovered it from that.
Mimi’s Nail Salons 9114 – 3rd Avenue has the chair massage for $10 for 10 min (most nail salons have this)
Foot Massage
VIP on 5th Avenue between 81st and 82nd Street – Only Gigi (I am not sure if she is still there though). $10 for 15 minutes
This is next to the BP Gas station or across the street from where Pizzeria Unos used to be.
5) King Spa 7905 – 5th Avenue – a friend went and said they gave good massages. My friend did a smaller package that is not listed on their website (see below) so it was cheaper – just a back massage. Kings Massage is across from Skinflints Bar.
