Patrolman David Guttenberg Remembered 45 Years Later – 68th Precinct
Police Officer David Guttenberg was killed in 1978 at an auto supply store on 86th Street (which is now now Dyker Bagels location).
Today, Patrolman David Guttenberg was remembered by the NYPD, family and friends with a mass. His wife and children were without him all these years. The 68th Precinct shared photos here.

Ying Tan Protested Against Migrants at Sunset Park Recreation Center
Every time I read something that Ying Tan writes, I nod my head and say YES, EXACTLY! She’s very intune with the community.
Gothamist wrote a big story about the protest Tan had at Sunset Park this morning! (See here)

Also noted in Gothamist’s story is that City Council representative for Sunset Park, Alexa Aviles sent questions to the Mayor, but she has not heard back. (Info)
While Tan is supported by her party, she is a leader on her own. We saw Iwen Chu being led by Abbate and Gounardes and Susan Zhang, who Bill Colton appears to be leading today. (See here)
While I don’t live in the district that Tan is running, I like that she’s very connected to the community. She’s present with the people when things happen – not just for a rally, but when problems arise. (See here and here)
Today at the rally at Sunset Park, Alexa Aviles’ supporters seem agitated that the Asian community was protesting against the recreation center being closed and used for the migrants. (We saw the video from WeChat of the man calling an Asian man a racist.)
Councilwoman Aviles should have spoken with them, so they can understand how different people feel about what’s happening at their park.
One of the videos I saw captured a vibrant woman named Lina. (See the video here)
Lina passionately expressed what people in Sunset Park were feeling. The seniors can’t use the recreation center, even though they paid for the membership (yes it’s low cost, but still they paid.) No one gave them a warning that the center was going to be closed because the migrants were there. (Why didn’t existing leaders let them know?) Marcela Mitaynes, the Assemblywoman for Sunset Park, was not understanding to Lina – she didn’t even respond to her!
In the video you may not notice Assemblywoman Mitaynes (She’s on the far left here) Mitaynes appeared to be hiding behind her chief-of-staff, Emmitt Mendoza-Gaspar, who was also silent when Lina shared the community’s views. (See here) This might be the reason why the Mayor’s staff chose this location – it works better when pols are silent!!!!

Why is Bill Colton Protesting in Sunset Park? Susan Zhuang Should Be Leading This.

Later in the day after the first protest with Ying Tan, Assemblyman Bill Colton and NYC City Council candidate, Susan Zhuang protested today against 60+ male migrants being placed at the Sunset Park Recreation Center on 7th Avenue and 42nd Street.
Why is Assemblyman Bill Colton there? He doesn’t represent this area. He should have let Zhuang lead on this.

While the Sunset Park pool remains open, the Sunset Park Recreation Center is closed to the community.
This has upset people because children and adults use that center and many have paid for membership (while it is low cost, the people said they were not told about this change).

Brooklyn has Iwen Chu and she was led by the existing male politicians. People aren’t receiving the communication they need from Chu now. Politicians need to speak for themselves, especially at rallies in areas they want to represent.

Here’s Brannan Blabbing To Insiders – Video

The group Brannan presented to is a political group that supported WaiYee Chan, a woman who lives in Queens.
The Brooklyn Young Democrats supported Wai Yee Chan because she worked for Justin Brannan. Not one member of the Brooklyn Young Democrats thought that the new Asian District needed to be represented by an Asian living in the area (or at least Brooklyn!)
So they a probably all buying Brannan’s speech.
But if any of them did a little research, they would know that Brannan sold out Bay Ridge with the Nathan’s school deal. (See here) No one should be personally benefitting from a community school.
When the information came out to the public, why didn’t Brannan‘s wife, mother or community members tell Brannan to stop him after the Nathan’s fiasco?
The second school deal on 5th Avenue and 88th Street showed we have a larger problem in our community. (See here)
This May, Community Board 10 voted against a high school school on Ovington Avenue because of many unanswered questions. (Info here) Brannan said he is going ahead with it.
Justin Brannan is no longer is working WITH the community.
If Brannan was working with the community, he would have gone to Community Board 10’s meeting with School Construction Authority and answered every CB 10 members questions.
We should have seen Community Board 10 take the next step in blocking Brannan’s move. CB 10 response = silence.
Years ago, if Justin Brannan saw a video of an arrogant politician talking the way he is talking, he would have mocked him. #TimesHaveChanged

Missing Teacup Yorkshire Terrier – Sunset Park
This teacup Yorkie has been missing since August 4th.
King was last seen on 7th Avenue and 55th Street. He is only 4 pounds.

There is a $500 reward for the return of King. His family misses him!

Columbus Day Parade in Brooklyn CANCELLED 10/7/23
The Columbus Day Parade in Brooklyn has been cancelled.
The mass at 10:30 am at St. Athanasius Church on Bay Parkway and 61st Street will still take place. There will be free refreshments after the mass. All are welcome to come!
While some areas choose to recognize indigenous people on Columbus Day, many Italians are still proud to recognize Columbus.

Ragamuffin Parade in Bay Ridge – Sept. 30, 2023
On Saturday, September 30th, the Bay Ridge Ragamuffin Parade will march down 3rd Avenue!
Children and families march down 3rd Avenue in their costumes! It’s a traditional Fall event in Bay Ridge that everyone loves!

“We have four adorable 2 month old poodle/yorkie mixes for adoption! Anyone interested in adopting one of these cuties should email us at [email protected] for more information.“
Walk-ins will not be seen – you must email in order to be considered for one of these puppies.
Sean Casey also has 4-month-old French bulldogs Ziva and Zane.
