GayRidge Protested Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny. Chris McCreight Lurked
There is a real protest here. Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny made comments at a Community Board 10 Meeting a few days ago.
Listen to the video above – don’t just listen to the protesters.
Listen to the person who is creating the video. As LJ explains what happened, you can hear the sadness in his voice. If you can hear the sadness, then you aren’t listening!
Update: There is a lot of politics around this story. This group wanted to make an appointment with the Assemblyman and his phone wasn’t working. The Brooklyn Paper said that Assemblyman called the police to escort him and his staffer out of the building. (See here) C’mon!
In the video, you hear a Ridgite say that he didn’t know this was Alec Brook-Krasny’s office. There is no sign! It’s 6 months into the year and he didn’t put up a sign. C’mon!
Then there is also someone playing politics here. Chris McCreight is the chief of staff to Councilman Justin Brannan. I saw a video of him being snarky and laughing. Some videos/photos were posted and then removed.
McCreight is standing around in this video. He is not chanting. He’s there just to take photos and play politics on Republican Assemblyman. Why? Because McCreight announced that he is running against Brook-Krasny next year. Here’s the strange thing about that…..Mathylde Frontus was in the seat. McCreight should have deferred to Frontus as it was her seat.
From Gay Ridge’s video, you can see the graffiti has still not been removed from the street. McCreight should have called for someone to remove it or brought a can of spray paint and covered the hate.
I saw another video of McCreight being snarky and laughing. Some videos/photos were posted and then removed.

June 26, 2023Why Did Jay Brown Fail to Mention That Wai Yee Chan Lives in Queens?

Jay Brown, a journalist for the Brooklyn Reporter wrote a column called, “It’s a Matter of Fact.”
Yet, Jay Brown failed to tell Brooklyn that Wai Yee Chan is a Queens resident. (See article)
When Brown was asked about this on Twitter, Jay ignored people and didn’t correct the article. Brown didn’t want to explain the mistake or why he left out this important information.
Some of the candidates running for the District 43 City Council seat are parents. It’s surprising that Jay Brown would try to take another parent’s opportunity away by minimizing another candidate’s accomplishments and pushing for a politician that lives in Queens.
Today, John Liu was in Brooklyn campaigning for Wai Yee. What interest does Liu have in our election.
Jay Brown is seen on the Bay Ridge Democrats social media page supporting Wai Yee. He should have disclosed that information in his article.

We were shocked the Bay Ridge Democrats endorsed a candidate that had taken money from a PAC money (PAC = political action Committee).

Taypayers for Affordable New York is a known Real Estate Pac. Julia Salazar explains this here. This article explains Real Estate Pac money in this election.
How embarrassing for Andrew Gounardes, Justin Brannan and Iwen Chu to be pushing a candidate who took Real Estate PAC money!
Democrat District Leader, Chris McCreight used to speak out against PACs, but now he is tweeting and supporting Wei Yee Chan. Not one Democrat has spoken out against Wai Yee accepting PAC money.
Sadly, none of these politicians were present supporting the community at the 86th Street meeting in April, where residents had to fight against a developer. (Info here and here)

June 25, 2023Assemblyman Chang Shared Chveni Cafe

Although Assemblyman Lester Chang does not represent Bay Ridge, I love reading his tweets because he loves Brooklyn!

Assemblyman Chang shared that he had great Borscht and some delicious Georgian cuisine at at 6216 18th Avenue in Bensonhurst. (See menu)
I’ve lived here for years and I never heard of the place.
Assemblyman Chang uses social media to help get the word out about businesses in his district and he doesn’t play politics on Twitter.

June 25, 2023How Did Free Concerts in a Park Become Part of an Election Flyer with Maimonides Hospital?

NIA (the Neighborhood Improvement Association) is running concerts in the park. These concerts used to be run by the former senator, Marty Golden. (See here or here)
Why is Maimonides Hospital and Investor’s Bank on the flyer?
Here’s why that is a problem:
Maimonides Hospital lobbied Justin Brannan and Shahana Hanif.
Maimonides received over a million dollars from the NYC budget:

While Councilman Brannan shared the money he gave to community groups that year, Brannan failed to mention the million dollars to Maimonides.
Why did Maimonides lobbying Brannan in 2022?
In 2021, Maimonides purchased the naming rights to MCU Park in Coney Island.(Source) That’s the huge stadium where the Cyclones play.
A lawsuit against Maimonides says the hospital lost $145 million in 2021. (See here)
In 2021, Maimonides started work on the Emergency Department in Bay Ridge, where SUNY Downstate used to be on 7th Avenue and 92nd Street. (See here)
Yesterday, Justin Brannan sent out a card advertising his campaign.
Are these concerts now campaign events? NIA was paid with our tax money – so this should not be on a Re-elect Brannan card.

Why is Maimonides, who successfully lobbied Brannan, on these cards?

June 25, 2023Shooter’s Photo – Bay Ridge Incident Outside Plugged In on Friday, June 23, 2023

The Daily News shared the photo above. The man and woman who were shot on Friday on 5th Avenue and 95th Street in Bay Ridge are lucky to be alive! Look at how close the shooter was to the dark grey car!

The NY Post shared the picture of the shooter running through our neighborhood. (Post article here) The video can be seen (here)
Not one politician shared these photos, even though the shooter is at large! The 68th Precinct tweeted about a message about not getting your car taken, but did not share the photos of the shooter! (See here) C’mon Captain Schafer!

The Post article shared that the shooter was wearing a blue track suit and red and white sneakers. Sneaker enthusiasts identified the sneakers as Jordan Cherry Reds.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
