Councilwoman Inna Vernikov Filed Charges Against Man Who Walked Up and Kissed Her

Last week, the man pictured above walked up to Councilwoman Inna Vernikov as she was filming a video in Brighton Beach.
The man kissed her on the check and laughed as he walked away. (See video)
Councilman Vernikov was caught off guard by the man.

The Councilwoman has filed charges against the man because she doesn’t want anyone else to be harmed by him. (Info) A lot of people would just let it go, but Councilwoman Vernikov understands that this gives the harrasser more power.
She shared that the man has committed other crimes.

August 25, 2023Tannousis Announces Lawsuit Against Migrant Shelter in Staten Island

Update: The judge issued a temporary restraining order which has halted this location from being used as a shelter. (News)
Assemblyman Michael Tannousis and other Staten Island representatives announced the lawsuit against the new migrant shelter being planned for Staten Island at the former St. John Villa High School. (Tannousis represents part of Bay Ridge as well.)
That high school has been closed for over five years, but the Staten Island Borough President mentioned that St. Joseph Hill High School (an all girls school) is nearby.
NYC purchased the property in 2018 to put a school. (Source) Former Mayor de Blasio said the property was for an intermediate school and a 3K for All. (Source)
Assemblyman Mike Tannousis said they filed an Article 78 because the City of NY did not ask for any type of input. (Info about Article 78)
Will a NY Court rule against the a community and force a community to pay for the migrants?

First responders pulled the body out of the water.

It’s a rainy morning, around 9:30 am, people shared on the Citizen App that there were three accidents on the Verrazzano Bridge.
Five people were injured and three ambulances were requested.

August 25, 2023Two Men Arrested For June Shooting in Bay Ridge on 4th Avenue – Outside Sneaker Store
Two men have now been arrested in the shooting that happened at the end of June in Bay Ridge outside the sneaker store on 4th Avenue and 95th Street in Bay Ridge.
This is really good news, but strangely, local newspapers have not reported this information.
I’m thankful that the NYPD continued to investigate this shooting and pursued the men who tried to kill two people in our neighborhood.

A new barber shop is opening on 3rd Avenue between 94th and 95th Streets – across the street from Walgreens.

This block already has a classic barber shop.
Men who go to Joe’s Barber Shop will continuing going to Joe because they love him. This new shop will attract men who don’t want the classic barber shop cut.

This location used to be for a French Cleaners, but that closed years ago during Covid.

August 25, 2023RIP Litsa “Julia” Constantellis – Bay Ridge

Many people know Mrs. Constantellis as the iconic mother of comedian, Gus Constantellis.

For years, Gus has shared his Mother with the world through his “Greek Mom” bits on TikTok and Youtube, as well as his at comedy clubs.
Last week, while vacationing in Greece with family, Gus’ Mom had a brain aneurysm, which caused a stroke and she did not recover. Yesterday, she passed away. (Info)

The family is having her funeral on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Church in Kapeleto, Elias, Greece.

I’m glad Gus’ Mom was able to experience everyone’s love for Greek Mom.

She spent her life loving and taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren. She also loved cooking and feeding them.
Gus’ videos allowed people to get to know his Mom. People enjoyed all of the stories Gus shared about his Greek Mom because they are personal and some are very funny. Plus who doesn’t want to learn to make authentic kolokithokeftedes from a pro?
In February 2022, she was able to see Gus’ show live and after the show, she danced with him on the stage.
RIP. Prayers for her husband, children and grandchildren. Her memory will be eternal with those she loved well.
Update: Gus honored his mother’s memory with a great video. She must be smiling down from heaven.

This morning around 9:30 am, on the Verrazzano Bridge, three people jumped out of a stolen SUV.
Two people were arrested, but one man ran off. He was wearing all black clothing. The police have not caught him. (News)
