The Makerfaire Will Be in Coney Island This Year!

The NY Maker Faire, which usually took place in Queens at the NY Hall of Science will be held in Coney Island this year.

On Saturday, October 7th and Sunday, October 8th, the Makerfaire will take place at Maimonides Park at 1904 Surf Avenue. It opens at 10:30 AM and closes at 5:00 PM.

What will you see at the Maker Faire? A lot of people showing cool things they create – not just jewelry or fabric crafts, but a lot of technology as well.

If you want to be an exhibitor at the Maker Faire, you can apply here.

When I attended this event (before Covid), they had stations set up all over to teach children and adults how to weld and create a light-up pin to wear. It’s a great event to take children to because there is so much to do and see. Many of the makers love showing people how things work and have the children test it for them.

The tickets to the Maker Faire have always been expensive, especially if a whole family attends. (Get tickets)

There are early bird tickets are $5.00 cheaper if you buy by today, September 1, 2023:

But there are discounts and they need volunteers, so you can attend for low price or even free. (Volunteer here)

It’s nice to see Coney Island get something nice for a change. This area was the first selected for a migrant shelter….at a school. And some dudes are considering a casino for the area, which will make Coney Island like Atlantic City.

Home Invasion in Bay Ridge This Morning

This morning, there was a home invasion on Bay Ridge Avenue. A woman entered a home through the back door, which had been unlocked by the residents that morning. The residents immediately called 911.

The Citizen App published the incident at 6:48 am and it was accurate.

The 68th Precinct police arrived at the house and arrested the woman. We are glad our neighbors are alright!

They shared the woman intruder was 48-55 years old and that she was charged with illegal trespassing and burglary.

I am thankful that people are sharing this information, so that everyone in the community can be alert. Thieves are up early and and trying doors to homes in the morning in Bay Ridge.

Beware of Jewelry Thieves in Bay Ridge

This week, on 5th Avenue and 79th Street, a man and woman in a car called a woman over to their car to ask for directions. The Brooklynite approached the vehicle to provide direction. The woman offered free jewelry and put it on the Brooklynite. They held the woman, kissed her and stole her diamond necklace and bracelet.

Another Bay Ridge residents shared that her 90-year-old mother was robbed the same way last Friday on 91st Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues. The couple stole the woman’s watch. They reported it to the police and the police officers told them there were three similar incidents this weekend!

This husband and wife team was working in Dyker Heights and the edge of Borough Park in June and July.

Thank you to these residents for sharing these stories to keep their neighbors safe!
