July 31, 2023RIP O’Shae Sibley. Memorial August 5th.

O’Shae Sibley was killed at a gas station in Midwood because he was gay. He was only 28-years-old. O’Shae was dancing to Beyonce’s music.
“A friend of O’Shae’s wrote: [They were] screaming we Muslim and we don’t like gays!” (Source)
RIP Prayers for O’Shea’s family and friends.

A Go Fund Me was set up to defray funeral costs. (Info)
How is society stuck in the hate still?
Police are looking for a 17-year-old boy. (Story)
In 2016, I got to choreograph a piece that O'Shae Sibley was a part of. He had such a gentle soul, was so hardworking, and just a great energy to be around. The news of his murder is quite jarring. And all because a group of men didn't like his dancing. it's painful. RIP O'Shae?? pic.twitter.com/LvoUKlAOTs

July 31, 2023Coszcal de Allende Closed – *New Place in Sept*

When we heard the news that Coszcal de Allende Restaurant was closing, we were very sad.
This place is a gem in Bay Ridge because of their authentic food. The family that owns the restaurant is fantastic!

The GOOD NEWS is that they will be reopening next month at 7506 – 3rd Avenue!
This location used to be Mr. Chips. (Before Mr. Chips, it was the Lighthouse Diner.)

Coszcal De Allende has been written about many times because of their excellent food and restaurant. Most recently, Eater NY named them one of thirty-eight essential restaurants in New York City!

Congratulations to the owners. We look forward to your new restaurant opening!

July 31, 2023OMNY Is Charging Higher Rates, Even Through Fares Don’t Increase Until 8/20

If you are using OMNY, check that you aren’t being charged $2.90 for the fair (or $7.00 for the express bus). Rates don’t go up until August 20th, so you should still see $2.75 (or $6.75 for the express bus).
I bet they figure no one will say anything because it’s just a small amount.
