There was a massive fire at 17 – 53rd Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

People in Bay Ridge smell the smoke and some can see the smoke as this is near Lutheran NYU Hospital.

There were around 250 firefighters at this fire. Two firefighters were injured because the warehouse collapsed as the news said that 15,000 gallons of water were dumped on the fire per minute.

Is An All Male Homeless Shelter at 2501 – 86th Street Going to Begin Construction This Month?

The NYC Department of Social Services is proceeding with the proposed men’s homeless shelter at 2501 – 86th Street.

The community does not want a men’s homeless shelter there because they see the violence that has happened in other communities.

Councilwoman Susan Zhuang shared this:

Recently, Senator Steve Chan spoke to Mayor Mamdani and asked him to consider using this for housing. See the video here:

https://shorturl.at/sTx7W

Senator Steve Chan wrote a bill S5554 to help stop the shelter. Here’s the bill: https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2025/S5554

Assemblyman Lester Chang cosponsored the bill in the Assembly. See the bill: https://shorturl.at/AtUMT

Brooklyn Assemblyman, Michael Novak also cosponsored the bill. But Bill Colton did not co-sponsor the bill. Why didn’t Colton co-sponor the bill? Bill Colton had the best chance for passing the bill as he is a Democrat and Democrats are in the majority. If Colton didn’t like Steve Chan’s bill, he could have introduced his own bill (but he didn’t)

Will Mayor Mamdani listen to the community? Maybe Senator Chan can make a new TikTok for Mayor Mamdani. The Mayor complimented Senator Chan’s Tiktok’s. See here:

Councilwoman Kayla Santosuosso Shared That ICE Was on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn – March 2026

Yesterday, in a private Facebook group, Councilwoman Kayla Santosuosso shared that ICE was in Bay Ridge. (ICE: US Immigration and Customs Enforcement)

Santosuosso provided the license plate of one of the cars that ICE agents were driving on 3rd Avenue and 81st Street. I don’t think she is allowed to do that.

She also said there was someone from ERO: Enforcement and Removal Operations. Finally Councilwoman Santosuosso said no one was taken by ICE.

I wonder why the vehicle is stopped in the middle of the street. They must have been doing something for people to realize that they were ICE.
