RIP Brian Fox

Such sad news! Brian Fox died last night.

Brian Fox became a politician in Bay Ridge to fight back against the anti-police rhetoric being heard in NYC. On election night in 2021, Fox held a lead over Brannan for the NYC Council seat, but lost the election after mail-in ballots were counted. (Info)

Liam shared this:

Brian Fox was only 34 years old.

Wake: Sunday (11/19)  12 Noon – 2 PM

Prayer Service: Sunday (11/19)  2 PM
at Clavin Funeral Home at

.

In lieu of flowers, family kindly requests donations in Brian’s memory to the ASPCA, providing effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.

Every time I ran into Fox on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge, he was always was so pleasant and he also had something nice to say! Brian wanted to help people.

Prayers for Brian’s family and friends!

RIP Brian.

How Did Senator Gounardes and The Verrazzano Victory Alliance Pac Affect Our Election?

Tonight, Senator Gounardes went home from Brannan’s victory party and messaged his haters on Twitter.

If Andrew Gounardes had a great night, why was he consumed with communicating with his haters on Twitter?

This was a slimy election.

We were surprised Senator Gounardes gave $5,000 from his campaign fund to a group called the Verrazzano Victory Alliance.

The group included it on the bottom of their page (Seen here):

Gounardes and Adrienne Adams, the NYC Speaker, could have donated money directly to Justin Brannan’s campaign fund, but they chose this group instead.

Why is a NYC or NYS elected representative allowed to give money they received from donors to a PAC? Are many electeds in NYS and NYC doing this?

Image

Grubhub donated $5000. I was surprised at the large amounts from some of the companies. What do all of these companies want?

Years ago, Andrew Gounardes called this Pay-to-Play. Why is it okay now? Yes, Andrew Gounardes tweeted against corruption years ago.

Robocalls were sent from this group – I haven’t heard them yet.

But I received this mailer right before the election (actually we received four of them):

Recently, Senator Gounardes started to talk about Internet Law.

How can Gounardes talk about the NYS laws for telecommunications when the Verrazzano Victory Alliance texted misinformation to people during an election?

Kagan was endorsed by the Conservative Party and ran on their line, so he was their choice, so the spam messages are misinformation.

Something isn’t right here, Bay Ridge.

Susan Zhuang Won in District 43 in Brooklyn

Congratulations to the first NYC Council representative of District 43, Susan Zhuang.

This also is a very gerrymandered and odd shaped district in Brooklyn.

Who Won the District 47 Election? Justin Brannan

Today, many residents in Dyker Heights didn’t know they were gerrymandered out of the area until they went to vote!

See street map of the new district

The news didn’t mention that the area was severely gerrymandered and Democrats were able to pick blocks of voters and exclude other blocks.

Graphic by The City – seen here

Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights used to be together (see above).

This is the shape of the new district that extends from Bay Ridge to Coney Island.

Tonight, Justin Brannan gave a victory speech at The Brooklyn Firefly. In his speech, Brannan lashed out at Brooklyn Kings County leader, Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn for being against him.

There were plenty of Democrats campaigning from out-of-the district this week, but the ones we spoke to didn’t know about the lobbyist projects in Bay Ridge.

The results 97% of the votes were counted – 9:50 pm:

11,148 votes for Brannan vs. 7,916 votes for Ari Kagan is where they finished counting tonight.

Steven shared this:

I’ve never seen politicians go as low as they did this election. I was surprised that Senator Andrew Gounardes was part of it. (See here)

Parking Meter Prices Increase in Bay Ridge

Parking meters increased from $1.50 to $2 per hour today.

And it’s now $5 for two hours. Cue the ‘it’s only 50 cents’ reply. But it’s not about 50 cents.

And you might be thinking, “well it’s just a little more.” The reality is NYC is just nickel and diming everyone instead of cutting down on frivolous expenses.

How Many Absentee Ballots in District 47?

1,926 Absentee Ballots

Of course District 47 had the most mail-in ballots.

But it also had 103 invalid ballots. If the election is close, all of those people will be called to (cure) fix their ballot.
