PS 82 is Going Up Where St. Rosalie’s Used To Be

Photo: Glenn M.
About eight years ago, St. Rosalie’s property was sold (not the current St. Rosalie’s on 65th Street and 12th Avenue), but the property on 63rd Street and 14th Avenue. It looked like this:

For years the lot was empty.

PS 82, a new middle school with 461 seats is expected to open here in September 2027. It doesn’t look like there is much space for a school year.

March 26, 2026Car Flipped On It’s Side Near PS 102 Today And Not One Politician Mentioned It

This morning around 7:20 am, Bay Ridge residents shared that a vehicle was flipped on the corner of Ridge Blvd & 72nd Street across from PS 102.
The flipped vehicle hit into two parked cars and damaged them.

This intersection has had crashes before because cars are running lights and there isn’t enforcement.
Ridgites reported this location in the past, but they were told that nothing needed to be changed.

Thank you to all who shared what happened, posted photos and previously asked Councilman Brannan to get a speed bump for this location. It’s going to take a lot to stop the reckless driving on our streets.
WHAT DID LOCAL LEADERS SAY ABOUT A FLIPPED VEHICLE NEAR PS 102?
NOTHING
Not one elected leader was outraged that a vehicle flipped outside of a school on a school day. We are lucky that it happened before children were in the area.
Not one politician representing Bay Ridge wrote about this incident on social media. Do you know why? It isn’t important to them – their children do not attend PS 102 and they don’t live there.
Councilwoman Santosuosso posted a photo of herself today.
https://twitter.com/kaymsanto/status/2037161670355636707
Senator Gounardes posted about NYC’s Summer Program (which has nothing to do with NYS gov.)
The streets in our community have increasingly become less safe. We’ve allowed our politicians to ignore the street problems and play with lobbyists (for the cameras) and post silly photos and videos on social media, instead of making changes to the streets.
When will you care Bay Ridge? When someone we know dies.
