March 27, 2024Modern Lux Hotel in Bay Ridge (Formerly The Prince Hotel)

The Modern Lux Hotel in Bay Ridge is now available for people to reserve a room.

These hotel rooms look fresh and modern. They are charging $200 a night. (Take a look here) Booking.com will price match as well.

Pets are allowed at the Modern Lux Hotel – no extra charges.
Yes, this used to be The Prince Hotel at 311 93rd Street. (See old pic) Last February it was sold to a new owner. (Info)
In June, they were remodeling. (See here) The new owners did a nice job!
Several people wrote to me and told me that there were people outside the hotel at night. We’ve passed by in the afternoon and around 1:30 am on the weekend and the place is very quiet.
Councilman Brannan told residents on Facebook that the new owner is doing 1/2 hotel and 1/2 Air BnB. I couldn’t find the property on AirBnB. Residents were questioning if migrants were residing at the hotel. (Brannan said no.)
Some strange things: There is no sign with the hotel’s name on the building. The small lobby had some new, plush chairs, but the area was not set up (it looked like they were just taken out of the box). We didn’t see a concierge behind the desk in the afternoon or evening.

March 27, 2024RIP Christine Fogarty O’Rourke – Bishop Kearney

I saw the news that a teacher from Bishop Kearney High School died. I didn’t recognize the name, but then I saw her picture and her red hair.
We knew her by her maiden name, Mrs. Fogarty. She was strong, fierce, beautiful and amazing.
She taught Social Studies, but we didn’t have her. She had morning duty on the first floor and she go to know everyone hanging out in her hallway for a little too long. She would yell your name down the hallway to say good morning and tell you to get to class.

RIP Christine Fogarty O’Rourke.
Life was not always easy for her, but she always prayed and knew that God was hearing her. One day, Ms. Fogarty and had a very deep conversation about faith with me – nothing was sugar-coated.
Info about her wake and funeral:

A beautiful life, that came to an end; she died, as she lived, everyone’s friend. In our hearts, a memory will always be kept, of one we loved and will never forget.

March 27, 2024NYC Council is Appealing For Noncitizens to Vote – Why Hasn’t Brannan And Adrienne Adams Stopped The Nonsense?

The right to vote is held by citizens – that’s everywhere. In 2021, when Bill de Blasio was mayor, he signed into law a bill that would have allowed 800,000 noncitizens to vote. Mayor Eric Adams and NY City sued to challenge the law to allow noncitizens to vote in city elections. They lost because the bill was unconstitutional. (See News)

Mayor Adams is no longer suing, but NYC City Council is appealing. Why does Justin Brannan And Speaker Adrienne Adams continue to waste the city’s time and resources after the trial and appeals courts ruled that this violated the New York State Constitution.
Update: July 2024, Nicole Malliotakis shared the bill that the House of Representatives passed to put an end to noncitizens voting. (See here) Doesn’t Brannan and Adrienne Adams know what is happening in government?

March 25, 2024JJ Carty Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – 3/26

It’s strange that there wasn’t a huge announcement for the ribbon cutting ceremony at JJ Carty Park on 95th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway.
The plans for the park were published in the newspaper years ago (See here) Andrew shared a beautiful picture of the park. (See here)

Over the weekend, there were a lot of children at this park.
Millions were spent on this renovation and they didn’t upgrade the bathroom.
A Zumba class will follow the ribbon cutting ceremony.
