Kaya Bliss Lounge is Getting Ready to Open

Kaya Bliss is the cannabis dispensary that opened last year on 3rd Avenue and 84th Street (where Pilo Arts used to be).
The owner made shared the video below on Instagram and showed the new Kaya Bliss Lounge next door to the Kaya Bliss Dispensary – it looks nice. Then he explained that you and your grandmother can go there and smoke together. My grandmothers weren’t into cannabis. Yours?
I don’t remember Kaya Bliss telling Community Board 10 that there was going to be lounge for people to use the products.
In NYS, there are Breathalyzer tests to tell if someone has been drinking before driving. NYS does not employ any tests to check if someone is high from cannabis while driving.

February 8, 2026All That’s Left of You is Showing at The Alpine

All That’s Left of You is showing at The Alpine Movie Theater in Bay Ridge. See showtimes:
https://www.alpinecinemas.com/Now-Playing/all-that-s-left-of-you.html#tickets

Many Palestinian families in our community will be able to relate to this movie as it tells the story of a young Palestinian boy living in the West Bank in the 1980s, whose coming of age is interrupted by resistance and loss. His mother, Hanan, carries the story back to 1948, to the Nakba, when her family was forced from their home.

February 8, 2026Kayla Santosusso Failed to Communicate Safety Concerns to Bay Ridge After Child Was Assaulted

It was politics as usual for Bay Ridge this week!
A 12-year-old girl was hit by a hater outside of her school at dismissal on Friday, January 30th.
Councilwoman Kayla Santosuosso and Senator Andrew Gounardes waited until Wednesday, February 4th to tell the community with messages on social media. The news reported the story that day because the woman who committed the hate crime was arrested.

Bay Ridge families should have been made aware of the assault on Saturday, January 31st or at the latest, Sunday February 1st in case the woman was to strike again at another school. Why do we have politicians if they aren’t communicating important information with the community?
Santosuosso and Gounardes also failed to share that the woman was from Staten Island. For Bay Ridge, it’s good to hear that this moron doesn’t live here. This is not the first time that Ridge a Staten Island resident committed a hate crime in Bay Ridge.

More than a week after the hate crimes were committed, NYPD Crimestats was not updated. Police and politicians want to say: “Crime is down,” but the reality is crime isn’t being reported accurately.

If Councilwoman Santosuosso was concerned about the community receiving help, she would have had that number updated at the precinct.
This isn’t just a problem for our community. NYPD’s crime report shows 58 hate crimes happened in NYC in January. Yet, NYPD’s CompStat shows only 33 hate crimes for 2026.

Source: https://www.nyc.gov/site/nypd/news/PR002/nypd-fewest-shoooting-incidents-shooting-victims-murders-january
NY 1 showed that hate crimes and Antisemitic hate crimes are on the rise in NYC:

Yet, Compstats shows hate crimes are down 76% in NYC this year because all of the hate crimes haven’t been recorded.

Kayla Santosuosso.went on television instead of taking action for the community:
We need to get away from politicians who want to go on television vs. people who want to take action for the community.
