Jamaica Bay Riding Academy is Closing in June. What’s Happening to the Horses That Worked There?
Jamaica Bay Riding Academy at 7000 Shore Parkway is shutting down in June after being open for 54 years. The horses that worked there gave a lot of rides to Brooklynites.

Children and adults learned to ride at Jamaica Bay.
Some of the horses have been purchased. but many of the older horses have not been purchased by a new owner.

Blood Drive in Bay Ridge on June 3rd – Goodies for the Blood Donors
On Wednesday, June 3rd, Haily’s Comets are having a blood drive outside The Greenhouse Cafe at 7717 – 3rd Avenue from 10:00 am – 7:45 pm.
There is a serious blood shortage in NYC (they only have a two-day supply of blood!)
Everyone that donates at Haley’s Comets at The Greenhouse Cafe on Wednesday, June 3rd will receive a voucher for two tickets to selected games of the NY Mets and Girl Scout cookies. Haley’s Comets sweetened the deal, so bring your blood!

Free Youth Sports Day for Juneteenth in Coney Island – Registration Required
Something new for this year: Juneteenth will have a Youth Sports Day at Kaiser Park in Coney Island from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. School is closed on Friday, June 19th.
Children from ages 6-17 can participate in baseball, basketball or tennis.

Mike Tannousis Responds to Mayor Mandani Saying That Bad Landlords Will Lose Their Buildings

In a Gothamist article it said that there were three ways thee socialists could do this:
a) NYC Council is considering a measure that would allow the city to sell buildings with hefty unpaid property taxes or fines
b) The Community Opportunity to Purchase Act, which could allow nonprofits the first shot at buying apartment buildings before they hit the open market.
c) Councilmember Sandy Nurse has a bill that would apply to buildings with more than three violations per unit. Info here:

Be Alert When You Get Out of Your Vehicle!
In Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, a new scam is going on. As you get out of your vehicle, a thief will casually walk by and opens your back door a little so your car is not locked. Then you walk away and they steal the car. See vehicle that Ying Tan shared:

There is a video circulating on social media showing a suspicious individual quickly opening a vehicle door immediately after a passenger exits the car. This may prevent the driver from locking the vehicle remotely.

A 16-Year-Old Girl Was Choked & Kissed at The 53rd St. R Station. Andrew Gounardes is Silent.
Last Thursday, May 21st, a 16-year-old girl was choked and forcibly kissed by the guy shown above. This happened at the 53rd Street subway station around 10:00 am. The news shared this today: https://shorturl.at/Tjml9
Why didn’t local politicians share the information with the community last week? Almost a week later and the perp has not been arrested.
Senator Andrew Gounardes represents the area, but none of his social media a warning to families about this. Andrew Gounardes doesn’t know his district and is unresponsive to the community.

Tree Pruning Around Bay Ridge

Bay Ridge is long overdue for tree trimming. But it looks like they are cutting a lot so that trucks don’t get hit by the low branches.
This Spring, there have been a lot of rainstorms and large tree branches have come down – many are dead branches that weren’t trimmed last year.
